Truly a magical experience. Last time I'd seen Jane perform it was solo in Tuscon, and it was more hit than miss, but last night's performance was magical. She started out solo, over a backing track full of water splashing, music, bird calls, etc. It was a piece called "Paddlin'", and it was magical--almost an extension to "Waiting for the End of the World." She then went into a solid, beautiful rendition of "You Don't Need"--the only old song in her set. The rest of the set was new material, hilarious Jane-speak, and a beautiful, funny song called "Send Me Someone to Love", which included the line.. "Send Me Someone to Love--who won't mind a menage a trois, with me, and you, and God, because God is great, God is good...in bed." All in all, it was a magical experience and I can't wait until Jane's new material is available. Lots of other musical highlights this year as well--will try to sum some of them up in a later post.
