I can't find confirmation of it, but fans might want to keep their eyes open for further news. adam k - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Feb 2006 10:17:50 -0500 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: Re: Elton Dean passing one time at band camp, adamk@zoom.co.uk (adamk@zoom.co.uk) said: >Just read on the Gentle Giant list that, according to a Canterbury music >website, Elton Dean "passed away" this morning at the age of 61. It seems she doesn't want to send it outside of Europe. She lives in Austria, she doesn't take PayPal, money orders or anything else, she'll only sell to someone in Europe who can transfer 8 Euros to her bank account. That sounds really odd to me, I don't even think it's possible to transfer money into somebody else's account here in he U.S. without jumping through a lot of hoops, but maybe it's standard practice in Europe? Anyway, is there anybody on that side of the pond who would be willing to order this CD and forward it to me? I'll be happy to work out the details off-list. Thanks! I've sent her an e-mail asking for account details, but I also pointed out Moneybookers to her -- since Moneybookers have ordinary bank accounts in many countries, money can transferred without additional fees to/from your Moneybooker account. it also means you don't need a credit card, although that works, too. (remember that credit cards are still relatively uncommon in Europe -- most people who have VISA or MasterCard have debit cards attached to their "salary account" (perhaps you'd call it "checking account"? of course checks were discontinued more than a decade ago).) > Anyway, is there anybody on that side of the pond who would be > willing to order this CD and forward it to me? Thanks Kjetil - I also had a private reply from Henning in Germany so it looks like I should be all set. It's great to have such helpful friends in the face of a music emergency. ;) Dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2006 16:35:38 +1000 From: Ms Heidi Maier Subject: songs about affairs. another song to add: "maine island lovers" by okkervil rivers. it runs, in part, "we take each nights journey to the hotel in a hurry, where we love without worry on a bed thats five days dirty. and we read without irony from a book my husband bought for me. when i fell on the concrete it was lovely, because you could see whats been running so hot in me." warmly, heidi. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #39 **************************
