It's fairly different from Rilo Kiley's stuff - less indie rock, more white soul. What's more, I just noticed that you can freely (and legally) download all but one of the album's tracks in mp3 format: http://www.team-love.com/bands/jenny/releases.php The one song not included is a Traveling Wilburys cover, so I'm guess it's not there for copyright reasons. I haven't actually checked all the downloads, since I have the CD, but it appears they're full tracks with a 160 kpbs bitrate. So definitely worth checking out. back to lurk-dom, josh. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2006 17:51:38 -0800 From: Ed Cole Subject: Re: Jenny Lewis Thanks Josh, did know about this. I'm not familiar with the Watson Twins but I love Rilo Kiley. Jenny Lewis has an excellent voice and is quite a virtuoso musician. Guess I'll have to head to Borders tomorrow. Rilo Kiley's a great group, and I bet that Jenny Lewis' CD is also terrific. You can sample some Rilo Kiley tunes at www.rilokiley.com -- and see a video of the song "It's a Hit", too. For the curious, "It's a Hit" starts out this way: "Any chimp can play human for a day, use his opposable thumbs to iron his uniform, and run for office on election day, fancy himself a real decision maker, and deploy more troops than salt shakers..." Guess what that song's about... - --Bill - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Josh Burnett Subject: Jenny Lewis I don't remember ever seeing the band Rilo Kiley mentioned on ecto, but in any case, their primary singer & songwriter, Jenny Lewis, has just released a solo album, Rabbit Fur Coat that I think quite a lot of ecto folks would enjoy. I wasn't present at the mixes or the edits and have not seen a copy, and have no idea how my end turned out, but I thought I'd mention it for any interested parties. I'm sure Robert's work is stellar as he is stellar. There's a bunch of Carly stuff in the film and Ken Burns seems to love it, so who knows ? There are a few tracks I'd like to release (asssuming they didn't wind up on the proverbial cutting room floor) and assuming I have the producer's green light. Like I said I haven't seen it, heard it, received a cue sheet or contract copy, so I'm not sure what to expect. Ahhhhh good ol' Hollywood. All in all though it's a pretty fascinating look at an equally fascinating woman and it's getting rave reviews. So just a head's up. For all I know all my cues could have been replaced by Anni DeFranco. Thanks for the space. Thanks for the heads up, Kevin! (Looks like it already premiered last weekend -- anybody happen to catch the first airing?) It will also be on this Saturday, the 28th at 8 and 11pm. The program's web site is . Judging by the film's credits listed at the site, I don't think you have to worry about your music being replaced by Ani DiFranco, Kevin... but there is a brand-new Carly Simon song in it!! :) (I can't believe it's been 20 years since Challenger. I still remember that day vividly.) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2006 21:31:47 -0800 From: Ed Cole Subject: Re: Jenny Lewis oops...sorry Josh.
