IIRC Vickie's theory was that it's mainly an argument between two people, and that's always worked for me. But I'm sure Vickie can explain it better. ... ? - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2006 12:09:20 -0500 From: "Jeffrey Burka" Subject: Re: Lena is a White Table meth sez: > I recall a thread on love-hounds many, many years ago about just this very > thing. It does seem to be about a person who is different, and the ways in which people ignore her or venerate her...I was just curious is there is some document (a jane interview, e.g.) that explains the meaning of this mysterious song. --Craig Jeffrey Burka wrote: meth sez: > I recall a thread on love-hounds many, many years ago about just this very > thing. Feist will be the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight (on ABC after Nightline). Kimmel's show is generally horrid, but at least he has the sense to put the musical guest at the end of the show like everyone else, for ease of recording. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2006 10:16:07 -0800 (PST) From: Neile Graham Subject: Of possible interest to our UK members Forwarded from the Sandy Denny list for those interested. - --Neile BBC4 (a digital channel onto which the Beeb has now shunned most of its cultural programming) is doing a 3-part series on the British folk revival, starting on 3 Feb. I'm guessing the second and third programmes, covering the 60s and 70s (10, 17 Feb) will be of special interest. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/music/features/folk-britannia.shtml Linked to the series is a weekend of events at the Barbican Centre in London: Fri 3 brings "Daughters of Albion" - June Tabor and others. According to the blurb, "the evening features an imaginative set-list that puts ancient English folk ballads alongside West Country trip-hop, 21st century R'n'B and songs from beloved singer/songwriters, including Sandy Denny, Lal Waterson, Kirsty MacColl, Anne Briggs, Vashti Bunyan and Kate Bush." http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=3379 Saturday 4 brings the great Bert Jansch in the evening, but before that, for the dedicated, you can catch an event with Joe Boyd talking about his upcoming autobiography, and in the Barbican cinema a series of short archive films, including a 1966 documentary about Les Cousins and the Troubadour, followed by Sandy's appearance on "One in Ten" (I'm hoping they've found a better print than the ropey copy that was circulating on the internet last year). http://www.barbican.org.uk/film/event-detail.asp?ID=3966 ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V12 #22 **************************
