I thought it was dark and cool and Christian Bale? Hottie? I wish Katie Holmes would quit screwing up her mouth to look cute, but other than that I thought it was great. Not, maybe, Oscar quality, I mean, it's no "English Patient" or anything, but I thought it was quite enjoyable. :) By the way, I have not seen "The English Patient" I just randomly chose a movie that I think got some nominations. Sideways was good too but a completely different thing. I can't compare them to each other. Also wasn't that last year? Didn't it win Oscars in 2004? I mean, not that you can't have it on your list this year. I just wonder why everyone's talking about it now. Maybe it just came out in Europe?" Sideways came out in february here so that counts. Oh and I agree with you about Christian Bale..sadly that didn't help the movie. Michael Caine and Gary Oldman did good too, but the script..eww. Nice that Oldman's learned to underact a little. But my impression stands. And I am a Batman fan. This made me miss Michael Keaton and the first two movies. Oh well. To each his own. Glad someone liked it. On a related note..Tilda Swinton was great in Narnia. Very queenly and evil. I'm impressed. Well, since Amy is subscribed to ecto and you clearly are too, I guess your options would be to set up a filter which automatically moves any posts Amy sends to your Trash (which isn't fair to Amy, really, but to each their own) or, alternatively, just unsubscribe from ecto. - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Dec 2005 12:27:37 -0500 (EST) From: Bernie Mojzes Subject: Re: batmen and such is funny. i hated the batman movies of years past - i didn't feel that they captured either of the batmen (batmans?) that i actually liked (those being the brooding psychopath of _dark knight returns_ and the ultra-camp of the TV series). i walked out at the end of _batman begins_ thinking, "hey, they almost got it right." yes, the plot to destroy the city was stupidly improbable. yes, it was full of cliches, but can you expect something other than that if you're reflecting a comic from the 40s and 50s? re: ms swinton: my spousal unit said of her, "did you notice how every time she killed someone, her mouth would open, just a little, like she was having an orgasm?" pity one can only be slain once. brni while extremely confused, you said: > Sideways came out in february here so that counts.
