It is running from 12.00-14.00 CEST, but for those who are not able to listen to it at at that time it is possible to set up a rerun for later. But then what to play? Any suggestions? - -- Yngve ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 09:38:04 -0600 From: Kim Justice Subject: Ally Kerr CD in the US? Ally Kerr is a Scottish artist I discovered because his "Sore Feet Song" is used as the opening theme of a Japanese anime called "Mushishi"*. His home page is at . Anybody know of a good way to get a copy of his CD "Calling out to You" in the US? Thanks! kj * Yes, I'm a pitiful geek who downloads and watches fansubs of Japanese cartoons. - -- Kim Justice justicekw@gmail.com "There can always be new beginnings -- even for people like us" - --Susan Ivanova ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 17:18:58 -0800 From: Ethan Straffin Subject: Re: Suggestions for Radio Show on 24.december wanted :) Mesh! Well, you could do what I did on the radio this afternoon: a mix of "best of 2005" combined with offbeat seasonal selections (e.g. Jill Sobule's "Jesus Was A Dreidel Spinner" and Imogen Heap's "Just For Now" (which can't possibly be about anything but visiting family at the holidays)). - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2005 23:22:35 -0500 From: meredith Subject: speaking of imogen heap... It's original Christmas/seasonal music from Sarah McLachlan, The Weepies, The Be Good Tanyas, The Medaeval Babes, and more. I'll be playing songs from it on my radio show on December 20. I usually avoid Christmas music, but this is quite nice. I also always pull out Susan McKeown's _Through the Bitter Frost and Snow_ at this time of year. In other radio-related news, I was listening to A Prairie Home Companion this evening, and the Wailin Jennys sang a gorgeous version of Jane Siberry's "Calling All Angels." - --Valerie Yngve Hauge wrote: >Hi you all, > >Sitting here trying to figure out what to play on next Saturday. Amusingly, Jane Siberry did *not* perform "Calling All Angels" at the Acoustic Cafe this evening. I guess that's the Law of Conservation of Songs. Or something. :) (Jane was wonderful, as always -- quirky, unique, as always very *Jane*. I'm loving this new tradition of seeing her perform at the Cafe right before I head off for the holidays.) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Dec 2005 00:55:50 -0500 From: "Michael Quinn" Subject: RE: Suggestions for Radio Show on 24.december wanted :) I really like most of the stuff on The Excelsis compilations by Projekt Records (there are three of them), they include some artists that aren't on the Projekt label and are most of the songs are very well done and nicely performed... Over The Rhine's "The Darkest Night of the Year" is another excellent holiday album which probably captures the true spirit of the season better than all the saccharine-coated mall music and is a nice antidote to it. And if you want to get really silly you can't beat "Crowleymass Unveiled" by Current 93 :) - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Valerie Richardson Sent: Sunday, December 18, 2005 12:03 AM To: ecto@smoe.org Subject: Re: Suggestions for Radio Show on 24.december wanted :) I'm currently listening to a pretty good compilation titled _A Winter's Night_ from Nettwerk records that I just downloaded from e-music.
