After a long silence she's back on the road, as noted below, and if you haven't seen her, go go go. Think PJ Harvey but even darker and more fascinatingly scary. 23rd November 2005 - News: A number of "warm up" gigs have been announced to preview tracks from the new, yet to be released, album "Slow Motion Addict". They are; Thur 15th Dec 2005 - Wolverhampton Little Civic Fri 13th January 2006 - Birmingham Flapper & Firkin Sun 5th February 2006 - Spitz bar, London I suspect, unfortunately, I won't be able to make the London one, due to my own performance commitments, which is just typical: I'm missing a series (Bob Mould, Juliet Turner, for instance) of good gigs which all seem to have arrived at once, just when I can't make it. Bloody typical. adam k. - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2005 15:51:37 -0500 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: george javori irene trudel just mentioned during her show on wfmu that she heard from former wfmu deejay (and erstwhile ectophile) nick hill that drummer george javori passed away over the weekend. the first time we saw george was playing with katell keineg at the mercury lounge. he's since popped up playing with lots of other folks including many ectophilic artists like joan baez, martha wainwright, erin mckeown, elysian fields, natalie merchant, shivaree and many others. he will be missed. woj ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2005 00:27:17 -0000 From: "Karen West" Subject: RE: Tina Dico, Was RE: Imogen Heap Live Video Set from KCRW & many more Amy wrote: > I had never heard of Zero 7, but Tina Dico's publicist sent me her new > album In the Red for review and I LOVE it. I think many of you would too. Nice review Amy. I'm glad you like her and I'm sure that others will too. She's great live; I've seen her with Zero 7, but she only performed 2 songs along with backing vocals on a few others. I am looking forward to seeing her solo in London at the Borderline in January. The main vocalist from Zero 7, Sia (Furler) is another favourite of mine and is also great live (both with and without Zero 7). Her album 'Colour the Small One' is one of my favourites of the last couple of years. The album is released in the USA in January and she'll be promoting it and playing some gigs on the West Coast. Check out her official site http://www.siamusic.net/home/ for details. Although her record, "Flutterby" came out a while ago, I only found out about it earlier this year - quite by accident, when she was mentioned by her sister I exchanged a couple of e-mails with. Her sister is none other than Becca Boucher, from my old, old favourite Australian band, The Mercy Bell. It turns out Bec's little sis is all grown up now, living in the States, apparently, and making music of her own... though I suspect she will always be Bec's little sister to me :) I like "Flutterby" - it's mostly kind of nice, easy indie pop, but with enough twist to keep it interesting. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #341 ***************************
