Guess I'll just stick with the downloaded version that was leaked in advance. How sad that the major labels do stupid things like this. After inevitably failing to protect the content even before it official release, now it only discourages legitimate sales. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Dec 2005 16:10:49 -0800 (PST) From: Neile Graham Subject: Re: Another - different - Sony vulnerability, included on Imogen Heap's "Speak for Yourself" You could do as I did, and buy the UK self-released version directly from her, which was what I did back in the spring. - --Neile On Wed, 7 Dec 2005, Dan S wrote: > Well I'm glad I didn't get around to buying that disc yet. Worse, there is also a death threat against open-source software. The biggest pusher of this beastie appears to be Vivendi-Universal. Here are the URLs... http://www.boingboing.net/2005/12/02/france_about_to_get_.html http://eucd.info/index.php?English-readers Any Louisa John-Krol fans on this list may know that she is signed to the small French label Prikosnovenie. I've already alerted her (and a few other good souls) to what's about to go down. It's too soon to know what this label, and other smaller imprints (Stella Vander's Seventh Records and the Esperanto-centric Vinilkosmo label e.g.) will do or how they'll respond, but I want to keep close tabs on this one. But I _do_ know that Euro showbiz types shouldn't have the right to (sorry, David Bowie) put out this fire with gasoline. The downloaded version is what's on our Audiotron (and my iPod) ... but we bought the UK version, which AFAIK is evilness-free. So I would recommend getting it from there -- it's the hometown release anyway. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Dec 2005 17:38:05 -0700 From: "Peter Clark" Subject: Re: Another - different - Sony vulnerability, included on Imogen Heap's "Speak for Yourself" What a relief, so did I.
