Being in Holland at the moment means I can just go to a shop and buy the single (at least I could a few weeks ago, as I in fact did!). I will be back in Melbourne in February, so if you want I can bring a copy back for you. Let me know. I've seen two kinds - one with a double cardboard sleeve, with bertie's picture on the outside cover, and a kate photo on the inside cover. The other is a standard CD single thin jewel case thingy. I found that her rendition of the song grows on you. Initially I found her diction a little clinical, and less ... umm ... "groovy" than the original. But that's just Kate really, and it's impossible to question Kate's musical sensual credentials. She has some of the most sensual songs ever written. Chris. P.S. Neale, I don't know if I'm laid back ... I'm certainly still a bit of a "last minute" guy, and a "seize the moment" guy, so I would probably have done the same thing today. From memory, I made the train, didn't I ... ;) P.P.S. Hi Bob Lovejoy! It's good to hear from you, glad you're still around! I hope the rock's doing well. Some of the songs were quite beautifully done, especially the older tunes, but I was surprised that so much of it I didn't really care for. Only 1 listen so far though, and I don't know if there are plans to put other discs online. Yahoo also has a live recording of "Operator" separately, and iTunes has an exclusive 3 song live ep which I really like. Don't know if those are now in the box set or not. The last few years were pretty lacking, but this year I've been fortunate to find 3 great new releases. All are highly recommended. LATE TUESDAY - STORYBOOK BEAUTIFUL: THE CHRISTMAS EPBeautiful harmonies are the highlight of this 6 song ep from female trio Late Tuesday. The music is mellow and reflective, the way Sarah McLachlan might make a holiday album. 2 originals and 4 traditionals (including a somber version of "Up on the Housetop," the only modern recording I've heard, and an ectronic "O Come O Come Emmanuel) and great round tin packaging make this album a great gift for yourself or another.http://cdbaby.com/cd/latetuesday4 SLOAN WAINWRIGHT AND FRIENDS - ON A NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMASI've never been to Sloan Wainwright's annual holiday show, I've never even seen her live. But this album makes me feel like I'm right there. Even at work, it makes me feel warmer, happier, like I'm really at home curled up in front of a fireplace in a favorite pair of pajamas and fuzzy slippers. I think it's because the joy and energy among Sloan and her invited guests (The Kennedys among them) really shines through on this recording; they sound like they're having so much fun. There's a great selection of traditional and contemporary songs, including 2 originals by Sloan. (Yes, they even cover Queen.) And they mix things up by having different combinations of performers for different songs. A great album. http://cdbaby.com/cd/wainwright5 JOAN OSBORNE - CHRISTMAS MEANS LOVEBluesy and soulful, the songs are well arranged and never over-the-top as so many Christmas songs can be. A good selection of traditional and lesser-known contemporary songs, including a new original by Joan. My favorites are the gospel-flavored but understated "Away in a Manger" and "Silent Night." http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?userid=jW4WFjJBBY&EAN=603777800622&ITM=1 The Late Tuesday and Sloan Wainwright albums are both available at CD Baby; Joan Osborne's album is a Barnes & Noble exclusive.
