The happy couple are keeping mum about it, but word leaked out via Rod Clements' home page: http://www.rodclements.com/rodc.html Well, let's just hope she doesn't go all happy on us. You know how that can ruin a singer/songwriter... Off to see Veda tonight. Their take on the ocean is going to be vastly different than...someones take who is landlocked...and the surfer is going to have their own take on the landlocked persons one.... My opinion/experience is that....it truly IS best to simply go jump in the ocean! Compared to what? a bunch of banter or piss-taking? Any old day....you betcha. The landlocked person could be completely envious of the one out in the water.....so.....all kinds of things start to get filtered into this review of the ocean. Maybe reviews are the real works of art.....made up ideas stuffed with attitudes from the reviewers and their own world.....talking about art that exists outside, and apart from their world. I think I am MUCH better off, in the world, having my own experiences with Kate playing, than reading a review! There is no comparison. The reviews always pale. Often the most, when written by piss-taking short-sighted narrow minded better off listening to metallica critics. However..I will say that some reviewers ARE absolutely brilliant.... I've seen one or two on this list. Everybody is entitled to their opinions - I simply much prefer my own experiences. Often reviewers reveal much more about themselves than whatever they are writing about. I've read a peoples takes on Kate - where they honestly do not get where she is coming from at all... landlocked and stuck on high speed......it's sooo obvious. But, you know, it's fascinating....I'd say a few are definitely in need of a trip to the beach! I do lose my patience, and grow flip sometimes...with the "it's not matching the level of my testosertone" crowd that diss and dismiss....fine.....go get some speed metal then, you know.....it's a big world....obviously some people get a bit lost in it...or...are only comfortable editing people down to a small size they can handle..... It's a big wide world. Enjoy it! Your real-life experience is great! Last Tuesday when I went to the record store I immediately put both discs into my car CD changer. I ran a couple quick errands still listening to the radio, then once that business was done I put CD 1 on and started driving. I had a vague idea of where I wanted to go (out a route I don't usually go through a few of the small rural towns that border New Haven), but that was it. It was late afternoon on a gorgeous New England autumn day. The sun was sinking behind the trees, and by the time I got to the midway point of Disc 2 the sun was pretty much where Kate was singing about. It was very, very cool, and I don't think I could replicate the timing if I tried. :) > I suspect she may take drives when mixing & mastering.... I don't know if she does, but I bet there comes a point during the mixing and mastering process where she wishes she did! (I've recently had an opportunity to see just how time-consuming and mind-numbing this process is, and now I'm kind of amazed that any albums get finished at all. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005 16:44:26 -0800 From: raven@igc.org Subject: Sony DRM lawsuits A class-action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of California consumers who may have been harmed by anti-piracy software installed by some Sony music CDs.
