They will happen, on stage in Charlotte's Duke Power Theatre at Spirit Square, and they will be recorded, and once we get the legal stuff settled, you'll probably hear them. But that may be a few months down the road, alas. Check the ASU website, www.actorssceneunseen.com, or just hang out and I'll let you know when we plan the broadcast. Again, sorry. We're not too happy either, being unable to broadcast our season opener. So it goes. "feather moon" is so gorgeous i nearly died. > maybe more thoughts later but i must do the work thing now. thanks for the reminder...meant to post something after Tuesday night's show at the Barns at Wolftrap but never got around to it. My partner and I went with Mike Matthews and his fiancee and it was pretty dang amazing. This was the fifth or 6th time Marc and I have seen Vienna, but it was probably the best. For one, the Barns provided a lovely Yamaha concert grand, so for the first time, we got to see Vienna play something other than the synth she lugs around with her. And she clearly appreciated the piano -- she spoke about it a few times, and it reminded me of Veda Hille going on about the piano at Ecto Fest West. She had Dinah and Marika with her, which was also a first for us...in the past, we've seen her with Alan Lin on violin and we've seen her with Marika Hughes on cello, but never at the same time. Because this was a solo show at the Barns, no opening act, we were treated to a nice, long show (much better than the last time the four of us saw Vienna, when she was the opening act for Lowen and Navarro!). My Medea Shasta Enough to Go By Gravity The Tower Unwritten Letter #1 Boy at the Piano Homecoming Feather Moon Hope On Fire {intermission} Mission Street Passage (!) Green Island Lullaby Leaving Atlanta (cover of song by Brian Webb) Now Three (new) Recessional (new) I Don't Feel So Well (new; not positive of title) Harbor Soon Love Soon (encore) Shine (encore) Vienna's patter is about the same as its always been -- charming and funny, with an occasional vague insight into a song. The piano was titled toward the back of the stage so we didn't see much of Vienna during the show. In the introduction to "Passage" she appologized and explained that it was arranged for better communication with the strings, but then said she wanted to sing something where she could face the audience. I've never expected to hear that song live, and it was a bit weird without the atmospherics of the highway underpass, but she did a spectacular job, and it reminded me a bit of seeing Tori perform "Me and a Gun." The new songs were great, and I'm really looking forward to the new album, whenever that might be. The crowd was quite and respectful and not quite as overwhelmed with Asian folks as I usually see at Vienna Teng shows. A lot of them were clearly hearing her live for the first time and were pretty much blown away -- I kept hearing comments of "She's incredible!" and "That was amazing" from behind me. Really, it was a tremendous show... jeff n.p. _Takk..._, Sigur Ros n.r. One of the attendees was the blogger Atrios, who posted about the show when he got home. Hopefully that will expand her fan base a bit. :) I am bitter because due to work I couldn't join woj to see her play in NYC last night. But then my job rocks, so I guess I can't complain too much... - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #287 ***************************
