Hi, folks- - - I've held off mentioning my little acting things here because they didn't seem relevant to the list. Now I've got one that some of you may be interested in; Happy probably would be too, so hopefully someone will pass it on to her. I work with a group called Actors Scene Unseen (www.actorssceneunseen.com) which does live radio plays for the internet. Next weekend, October 22nd and 23rd, we'll be doing Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse 5. I'm playing the narrator, who is basically Vonnegut, plus a few other small roles. We've got a really wonderful cast of seven, and tonite I got to hear some of the original music a local composer has done for us. Sweet! Our own soundtrack! This should be an excellent production, so if anyone is in the Charlotte, NC area and wants to drop in for the live performances, come on down! Everyone else can hear the show live by logging into the website. They run archived editions of earlier shows twice a day on weekdays, so you can hear a sample and make sure your computer is configured to pick up the streaming audio feed. I hope a few of you will have a chance to listen in, and that you like what we do. ASU is a small operation run by a husband/wife team, but the production values on this season's shows have been spiffy-keen. They're on tour now, but I don't see any dates for Chicago. I can't even imagine. I don't dance. Ever. EVER! Ok, that one time at Joe "King" Carrasco doesn't count, because that was only bouncing up and down, but I think I would have a hard time keeping still at one of their concerts. I don't know either of them very well, but Manchester is well off for museums. I would urge you to see the Angel of the North, near Gateshead (the 'twin city' of Newcastle). A huge and stupendous piece of public art. Have a look at the programme of the Sage, a new and excellent arts venue - www.thesagegateshead.org. And check out the cool swinging bridge that connects Gateshead with Newcastle across the river Tyne. Between Manchester and Newcastle lies Yorkshire, England's largest county. You could do worse than visit the ancient city of York on your way. But my personal choice would be to get off the beaten track and see some of the region's beautiful countryside and rugged coastline, in and around the North York Moors National Park. It sounds like you're going to be reliant on public transport though, in which case accessibility to some of the countryside would be problematic. Enjoy your trip! If you have a QT Pro license you will be able to save it to disk. It's 45mb so not exactly e-mail-able! I can post it on my web-site but I suspect I would be infringing Kate's copyright or some thing like that, unless someone else knows otherwise. I've not been to the Sage yet as I live in Scotland but some folks I know have been and were very impressed. Again in Gateshead there is the Baltic art gallery If you are into architecture try and checkout Manchester Town Hall which is an epic piece of Victorian excess! If you can get there Hadrian's Wall has one end marked by a museum in Newcastle but the best bit to go and see is in the middle section (where the opening scene of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was shot) Maybe not the best time of year to go as it will be pretty soggy underfoot! Here's some photos I took from earlier this year when we walked the wall. I don't use MacOS. Might check if VLC will do it. Sorry everyone else. when you go to the video page, have the video launch in a separate quick time window (the box is to the left of the screen) once it starts, go to "Windows: Show Movie Info" and copy the source link (its ...akamai.net...) copy the video source link into a new Safari browser window and quit the original quicktime window. the video will start playing in the new browser window. in Safari, go to "Window: Activity" and you'll see the movie listed there, option-double click the link and it will begin to download the video to your hard disk. you will probably want to close the window that has the video playing, but don't quit safari until the download is completed. the HD version of the video is 44.3 MB. - -troy - --- troy j shadbolt www.voyuz.net ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Oct 2005 15:35:36 -0700 From: raven@igc.org Subject: Re: CDRs At 12:39 PM 10/13/2005, kerry white wrote: > > has anyone with a cdr made in a stand alone CDR > played it in their computer?
