I have never seen Noe, but you definitely won't regret seeing Lhasa. Have a great time. I just saw the Evelyn Glennie documentary - Touch The Sound. It is an excellent movie. Highly recommended. Evelyn is an amazing musician and her take on music and sound is really fascinating. It's also got Fred Frith all over it - who is an interesting subject in his own right. neal np: Voices Inside - Guy Forsyth At 1:31 AM -0400 10/3/05, DanStark wrote: >Leif and I already had tickets to see Lhasa at the Peter Norton >Symphony Space on Thursday by the time Noe's NYC shows were >announced. A few months ago I got to wondering whatever became of Lindi. I did some digging and discovered that she had become the lead singer of a ska/punk band in Toronto called Sugarkill. Quite a departure from her brilliant solo debut, but I quite liked two out of the three demo songs that were ultimately posted to the band's website at Sugarkill.net. Well tonight I stumbled upon news that Lindi has apparently left that little musical detour and is back to performing solo shows under her full name, Lindi Ortega. The review I read described her new songs as "a bit of a Cowboy Junkies meets Nancy Sinatra", and another blog entry I found quoted her has saying she would be releasing a new solo album in 2006. So if you were a fan of her previous album as I was, there's something to possibly look forward to, and if you're in Toronto, her next gig appears to be at The Victory Cafe on 11/5. Here's the review I saw -- http://umbrellamusic.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2313 Dan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 09:16:09 +0100 From: adamk@zoom.co.uk Subject: More Juliet Turner US tour news Apologies if there's repetition, but it's well worth repeating: For those of you in the US Juliet Turner will be playing in the Houston Woodlands on the 2nd Oct and is delighted to have Austin musicians/songwriters Billy Harvey and Troy Campbell share the stage with her. The Strathmore Hall (literally adjacent to the school where I work) is a beautiful facility. Bill's answer to your query is one of the more learned, brief replies I've ever seen on a music-discussion list. I won't discount his info. There are many other venues to pick from in the DC area, too. Places like the Birchmere (http://www.birchmere.com -- a little pricey compared to your basic neighborhood bar). Whether you're going to find your basic Ecto-friendly kind of music is a different matter. If I find one of my filed list of DC-area venues, I'll send it in another email. ~Mark C. - --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Oct 2005 10:49:30 -0500 From: Doug Subject: My wish would be for a bunch of Ecto artists to each contribute one song to a collection of Bee Gees covers, perhaps for release on April 1st of next year.
