I never would have said it outloud, so imagine my surprise when I read ecto and find that others think so too! What's said in here, stays in here, I hope. I *did* send Kate a Warpaint, a long, long time ago. *shakes head* What a wonderful song. It's Kate, *and* it reminds me of Happy! Wow. Just...wow. So is Dar more popular here than, say, Liz Phair or Lucinda Williams (to name the only other two names I recognize from http://www.victheatre.com/Page2.html ), is there something special about her shows that explains it being reserved seating, or should we assume this is a mistake and be certain to be there early after all? Has some tasty (though a bit strange) vocal harmonies, in fact. We must always take my taste into account, of course, but you needn't take my word for it: check out a couple of tracks on her website (bluviolin.com). ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Sep 2005 16:23:35 -0400 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: Re: Happy/Kate? one time at band camp, Runly (runly@hvi.net) said: >Isn't it interesting that after all these years of people saying Happy >sounds like Kate, that people are now saying the reverse? i think people have always said that happy's VOICE sounded like KaTe's rather than that her music sounded like KaTe's. as far as kotm goes, i think the MUSIC sounds like something happy would have crafted not that KaTe's voice sounds like happy's. woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Sep 2005 18:44:38 -0700 From: Neile Graham Subject: A "Who's That Artist" query An acquaintance gave me a compilation without any attributions, and there's a song that I can't figure out who it's by. When I listen I think I should know, but I can't figure it out. I've tried googling the lyrics, and all I find is that it was used in Felicity and someone's been trying to figure out who it is, too, with no luck. Even tried felicitysongs.com and it's not there, either (so did the other person who's looking for the song). Her accent sounds English, and I think she sounds like Beth Orton vocally, but Jim disagrees. Anyway, here are the lyrics: Here we are, you've moved on In my heart I know you're not gone Gotta find ways to shed this old skin Where were you, were you in that room Were you watching as I wept for you [ ] next to your body so still Won't let go Don't wanna lose Won't let go Don't wanna lose I won't let go And I don't wanna lose anymore These emotions it's like giving birth When it's taken it's all in reverse It's a whole new way to think about this Won't let go Don't wanna lose Won't let go Don't wanna lose I won't let go And I don't wanna lose anymore Nice guitar work, too. The song is followed by one by what sounds like the same artist with a Spanish flavour that starts off "Jimmy said he wanted a favour / Said he'd pay me $50 / told him it was worth more / on account of him being ugly / and later he agreed."
