Leif and I used her song Firefly as the last dance at our wedding reception this summer so you know it's pretty high on our list. (Oh yeah, I got married in July -- did I mention that?) Anyway, I wish I could see Laura perform with her full band, but maybe if anyone in DC can make it you can let us know how it goes. Here's the announcement from her mailing list: - --- Thursday, October 6th Iota Club & Cafe 2832 Wilson Blvd, Arlington VA (a couple of blocks from the Clarendon Metro) www.iotaclubandcafe.com 9pm Although some of you have had a copy of the new CD for a few months, this will be an official celebration of the completion of "Proof" and the positive response it has received since its release this spring. This should be a really good night... I will be playing with some of the players that graced the album, and I am very excited about reuniting with these folks - they are amazing musicians and great people. Also, opening things up will be Robin Wynn and her band who have been creating quite a buzz out of Charlottesville. It will be important that I show the management at Iota that I can draw a pretty big crowd around here. So, make it out if you can... and bring some friends! Seriously, pass the word and lets see if we can make it a fun time. I'll be giving away something free at the door - more details on that in the next reminder! Thanks for listening. laura www.lauratsaggaris.com www.overtimerecords.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Sep 2005 10:13:53 -0400 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: Re: Imogen Heap tour & NYC happenings one time at band camp, DanStark (2005.carnivore99@verizon.net) said: >As Paul Kim posted a couple weeks ago, the Hotel Cafe tour with >Imogen Heap begins this Monday at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. I'm really really gutted and deeply sorry for what I'm about to tell you NYC and Pittsburgh fans... Trying not to swear here.... The lovely system that is attached to getting a U.S. visa has failed to work for me in time to do these shows. It's not really anyone's fault (certainly not mine!!!) just one of those extremely annoying things. Desperately trying to think of some way around this I was saying to my manager maybe I should just go anyway but he told me I could risk deportation and that really wouldn't be too clever. I feel really awful. I was soooo looking forward to getting started on the tour and kicking off in the wonderful NYC would have been such a great start. I'm going back home via NYC for some promo around the 27th October and I've already got my agent looking for a venue where I'll do a special gig to make up for it around the 28th/29th. So those of you going to The Bowery don't throw those ticket stubs away! It'll also mean you guys will get to hear lots of songs as it'll be my own gig! Pittsburgh's getting the raw deal here as I won't have time to go there too. Next time I come to Pittsburgh I'll make it up to you guys too xxxx I'm really sorry again. For you and for me! It really is out of my hands though x Lots of love fluv immi x of course, the dresden dolls are at webster hall in nyc on october 28th so i guess that guarantees she'll find someplace to play on the 28th as well. grrrrrr. woj ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Sep 2005 14:16:34 -0400 From: DanStark <2005.carnivore99@verizon.net> Subject: Re: Circus Contraption heads for New York! Neile, thanks for the heads-up about this - we went last night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The web site made it a little hard to predict exactly what we'd be in for. Turns out to essentially be sketch comedy theater with an old-style circus plot, some pretty good acrobatics, comical sideshows and really fun music. One of the most impressive things about it is how well the actors all multitask, taking turns playing multiple characters, musicians and acrobats throughout the show. It's very funny and at $20 it's a bargain by any standard, but especially for NYC. Highly recommended before they wrap up here on Oct. 1. It needs work, but it's there now, hooray! http://www.myspace.com/happyrhodes I've been changing the picture on the front page. I can't decide what to use. I may be getting more pictures from Happy. I chose the 4 songs myself and I'm waiting to hear if the selection is ok with her. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I don't know how common it is for fans to set up an artist's page, but Happy's in no position to do it herself right now, and I'm just thrilled that she said I could do it.
