John Wesley Harding wrote a well-reviewed novel called MISFORTUNE under his real name, Wesley Stace. It's based on one of his songs. Also, Rupert Holmes, the "Pina Colada Song" guy, has written a couple of novels. I'm actually listening to his latest one, SWING, as an audio book. It integrates the story with songs, which works really well. (It takes place in 1940, so the songs fit with the era.) I'm about halfway through it and enjoying it a lot. I am always on the lookout for audio books that are more than just straight readings, and this one is very creative in that way. - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 09:08:52 +0950 From: "afries@internode.on.net" Subject: Six Feet Under/Sia We haven't talked about Six Feet Under much, but I'm sure many Ectophiles were fans... and damn, wasn't it an amazing ending? I was in tears as I watched, and even now, the next morning, I am still somewhat shaken up. What a show this was! Most of the time TV is a sorry landscape strewn with wrecks and crap, yet 'crap' is another word for fertilizer, and sometimes something amazing springs up :) Over the last few years, three shows kept me from throwing my TV set out the window: Buffy, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. Now there is only one left... Anyhow. The music in the background of these final scenes was someone named Sia. Sia Furler, who as it turns out to my suprise is Australian - but I have never heard of her before. Do we know anything about her? Does she move in more commercial circles, kind of like Dido perhaps? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 19:56:23 -0400 From: Michael Curry Subject: Mila Drumke at The Living Room (NYC) - -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Mila Drumke at The Living Room Date: 24 Aug 2005 22:57:18 -0000 From: Little Pro Records *Mila Drumke Band at the Living Room Thursday, September 1 @ 8 pm* 154 Ludlow Street b/w Stanton and Rivington New York City 212.533.7237 http://www.livingroomny.com no cover For more information on the Mila Drumke Band and to order CDs, visit http://miladrumke.com.
