I haven't been able to see it myself due to my internet situation (crikey, broadband has spoilt me). http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/12904.html Sorry about the lack of subject last time. adam k. - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Aug 2005 09:41:33 -0400 From: gordodo@optonline.net Subject: Re: Oooh, look what Chris just built me! wow - how did he get the cat to stay in the monitor? lucite? superglue? very impressive :) - -jason np Lily Cushman Cuhane (for anyone wanting a new Poe album, this may tide you over...) - ----- Original Message ----- From: Xenu's Sister Date: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 2:42 am Subject: Oooh, look what Chris just built me! > http://suspended-in-gaffa.com/pics/showtime2.jpg > > Now I have to figure it all out. > > V > > > > > -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ > > Music, all I hear is music, guaranteed to please... > > -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ > -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Aug 2005 17:07:18 -0700 From: raven@igc.org Subject: Nerina Pallot's reply I got a very nice reply from Nerina Pallot... 1. While she approved the Flash and the pop-ups, she's not web-savvy enough to know they're unusual features and not that common. 2. Her web budget is a shoe-string, I suspect the web designer may have used this site for a portfolio, not to make much money. 3. She had no idea that Flash took so long on dial-up. 4. She especially didn't know that many of us disable pop-ups, they are not a "spammers haven" on Macs (which is what she uses) as they are on Windows. 5. She'll talk to her web designer, I suspect it'll take some time, but she can be seen at MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/nerinapallot) which uses no Flash and no pop-ups. - -- John ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 12:24:13 +1200 From: Karen Hester Subject: Nerissa Nields novel Kia ora, our library just got a YA novel with CD by Nerissa Nields (Plastic Angel). My mom has enjoyed novels by Louise Wener ex of Sleeper, without knowing of her musical past. Are there any other musicians whose novels are read by people for reasons other than their music? People who aren't New Model Army fans read Joolz Denby (Orange Prize shortlist 2005), but she was always a poet. Neil Gaiman, Steven Brust and Emma Bull. But then, the music thing isn't what they're really known for. :) Adam Stemple from Boiled in Lead just put out a novel, but I'll be reading it because he was from BiL. I picked up Patti Smith's "Babel" when i was a youngun as something "poetic therefore cultural therefore acceptable" for subversive reading on a weeklong church retreat one summer without really having any knowledge of her music at the time. That tattered paperback certainly got passed around a lot.... > > People who aren't New Model Army fans read Joolz Denby (Orange Prize > shortlist 2005), but she was always a poet. > > Karen > - -- brni i don't want the world, i just want your half. www.livejournal.com/~brni ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #229 ***************************
