Something along the lines of Mountain Stage or Acoustic Cafe would be good, but it doesn't have to be interviews or performance (or even an actual radio show). Any suggestions appreciated... And, at the risk of totally opening this thing up - the only podcast I've actually subscribed to so far is The Al Franken Show. What else would people recommend along these lines? (Is there a secret Jon Stewart podcast I haven't found yet?) It's so hard to sift through all the stuff that's out there. Also, I note that Carrie Newcomer has a new album out. Has anybody heard it yet? And does anybody (Neal?) want to comment on Lynn Miles's new album "Love Sweet Love"? I like it, but I think that in places it's completely interchangeable with a Jann Arden album. Not that I mind Jann Arden either, but I thought that "Slightly Haunted" was such a brilliant folk album I wish Lynn would go back to that sound again. And a completely unrelated note: the new "Doctor Who" is possibly the best show ever. Better than "Farscape"? Unbelievably, I think it may be true. Frell! Cheers all, sherlyn ps - Neill Griffin, email me. I want to send you a CD... - -- Sherlyn Koo | sherlyn@pixelopolis.com | Sydney, Australia ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Aug 2005 09:14:25 -0600 From: "Jeffrey Hanson" Subject: Re: Podcast advice + Carrie Newcomer + Lynn Miles + random babbling Hmm, interesting that you compare Lynn Miles new one to Jann Arden. I think Jann Arden is becoming increasingly adventurous, but that she writes theme songs for codependents. Blood Red Cherry was a phenomenal Jann Arden album--her latest self-titled release isn't quite that good but its close. Lynn's latest one is a bit like that--I don't see it as a great departure from Lynn's style--I think its a pretty solid album, but it misses some of the depth of emotion of her earlier releases. I was going to say- with a paragraph that starts with Lynn Miles and ends with Jann Arden - you should be asking for Jeff! But I see he answered already. He gave me Lynn's CD for my birthday but I haven't had a chance to listen yet. neal now shuffling over: Out Past the Lights - Ana Egge (recommended for Lucinda Williams fans.... curiously, Lucinda is quoted on the web site as saying "Ana's an exceptional songwriter.
