It should load much quicker. These number don't correspond to the last page of photos. I just cut them out and re-named them. Of these, we've had one vote for #4, one vote for #7 and one vote for #9 (which would hands-down be my choice if I had a better copy of it. The original was overblown like that) http://www.rhodeshows.com/images/pics2.html I kept in #1, my original choice, but I'm not going to use it. I found another place for it. ======================== Here's just 1 of the film strips, for a quick reference to the rest of the pictures. http://www.rhodeshows.com/images/pics3.html This one shows the Victoria photo 2 people have voted for and which I'm going to use. In case anyone's wondering, Milla and Nan Vernon are in there because I was on a Milla and Nan Vernon kick, and those pictures are killer. I could have chosen 20 other women to fill those spots, especially Nan's, but their music was at the right place at the right time (that being listening to the CDs on repeat the night I made up these film strips). It allows you to organize your MP3 files and update the contents of your iPod. Second, the iTunes Music Store online is where you buy songs for 99 cents. Accessing the store is a feature of the iTunes software, but by no means are iTunes users restricted to cataloging MP3s that were bought at the store. (I got an iTunes gift certificate for my birthday last year, and I've used it mainly to pick up random hits from the early '80s for my "fun stuff" playlist ... I've also used it to get the Dresden Dolls live EP that was released on iTunes earlier this year. Out of the almost 7000 songs I have on my iPod, that's a pretty miniscule fraction. :) > My shows aren't > commercial and will never be for sale. The very thought > is appalling. Why would iTunes offer free content? Don't confuse the online music store with the software. I can see how that would be easy to do, though! > The only other thing I know about > iTunes is that they don't have any Happy, because Chris > checked once and mentioned it, and is the main reason I > haven't paid any attention to iTunes since. If iTunes doesn't carry Happy, chances are the only reason for that is because she has never approached them about it. iTunes has deals with the major record labels, but independent musicians are welcome too so long as they take the initiative and contact iTunes about working out a deal. - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Aug 2005 16:04:24 -0500 From: "Collected Sounds" <2345@collectedsounds.com> Subject: RE: New Dar Williams Album details Hi Everyone Yeah, I've got an article up on my site: http://www.collectedsounds.com/corner/mybetterself.html There you can see a photo of the album cover too, it's pretty cute. It's a press release, I didn't write it. They just asked me to post it. I still haven't gotten my interview questions back yet (was supposed to be last Thursday) but will let you all know when I do I've only heard the "Echoes" song and it's pretty good (though she didn't write it) ~Amy Lotsberg Producer, Collected Sounds - a Guide to Women in Music www.collectedsounds.com - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org]On Behalf Of mike.gray7@ntlworld.com Sent: Sunday, August 07, 2005 5:25 AM To: ecto@smoe.org Subject: New Dar Williams Album details I had no idea! This is another nice feature of CDBaby. If they carry your CD, they will place the songs from it with iTunes and other digital download services, for free. (They don't do this automatically; you have to sign up for it, but it's a snap.) - --Sue - -- TNT2005: http://www.suetrowbridge.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Aug 2005 18:20:40 -0700 From: Greg Bossert Subject: Re: Ecto podcast On Aug 7, 2005, at 1:51 PM, meredith wrote: >> My shows aren't commercial and will never be for sale. I can see > how that would be easy to do, though! ah, but the online Apple iTunes Music Store *does* offer free podcast support. which is to say, if you submit your podcast info to them, they will effectively advertise and distribute your podcast for free inside of iTunes. this is actually pretty durn cool, in that it gets your podcasts in front of all of those many many millions of iPod/ iTunes users. Vickie, this might be a nifty alternate channel to get SiG out to the unenlightened masses. note that there is a wide range of ideas of what podcasting even means, from simply providing a long mp3 of a bunch of songs strung together to the technically more accurate application of RSS 2 enclosures with various syndication and aggregation schemes. Apple takes the latter approach, with features that include chapters, bookmarks and external links, and synchronized images. in short, the Apple approach is cool and powerful, but at the possible cost of more work and confusion... there is some info here, though more on using iTunes podcasts than creating them: http://www.apple.com/podcasting/ http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ these are more useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast (check the external links at the bottom) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITune http://www.voxmedia.org/wiki/ITunes_Tips http://www.voxmedia.org/wiki/PodcastChapterTool i hope this helps! - -g ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #213 ***************************
