The tools people use to download Podcasts like iTunes and iPodder etc, use RSS to find out when a new show is available for download and then download it automatically. This allows me to set up when my Podcatcher does it's work, wich for me is when I'm not using my computer, say late at night or when I'm at work. Then when I get home all the new Podcasts have been downloaded and are waiting for me. Wikipedia page for Podcasting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasting How-to about Podcasting: http://www.podcast411.com/page5.html A how-to specifically on RSS feed creation: http://www.podcast411.com/howto_1.html Personally I use a cheap-o crappy 128 Mb MP3 player that is basically a USB thumb drive with a headphone jack that can play MP3's. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=MD100-128-N So you don't need an actual iPod to enjoy Podcasting any MP3 player will do. The advantage to the iPod/iTunes combo is the ease of use you get with the auto synchronization to the iPod from iTunes, although most of the Podcatching clients automate the download and transfer to your MP3 player. I empty mine out and fill it up each day with a fresh days worth of Podcast listening. Looking forward to more great music in your Podcasts! It wasn't a priority until I saw that, completely by coincedence, all the other artists in my "film strip" SIG photo were looking at the camera. It would look odd if Happy weren't doing it too. I think I've gotten just about every one out there. There were a couple of others but they just didn't work for one reason or another. I made up a page with all the various incarnations of my photo strip. Help me choose one. There are some duplicates but that's mainly because I'm also trying to choose a Victoria Williams photo. If you scroll down you'll see I have 3 different Victoria photos. If you'd like to weigh in on those too, feel free. All the other photos are set in stone. There are 21 strips in all, so the page will take a bit to load unless you have a fast connection. Please tell me which ones you like based on the photo itself and how it relates to the other photos. http://rhodeshows.com/images/pics.html Thanks! Ghost Fish is a collaboration between LJK and the Greek band Daemonia Nymphie. It is a dark rock album, with influences from Siouxsie and King Crimson on display. Louisa contributes her dreamy voice, mandolin and some electric guitar. It's a weird album, with trippy, proggy lyrics. 'I HEAR THE WATER DREAMING' is her collaboration with ambient artist Oophoi. It's ambient music of the lights-out headphone variety. Layers of watery sounds and layers of her voice weave together in unexpectly gorgeous ways. There are lyrics full of fantasical imagery, but these pieces are so rich with sound, you barely notice them. - --Craig Blog: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ethereal_lad - --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Aug 2005 19:14:27 -0700 (PDT) From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Let's try this again, shall we? I'll consider it, though it seems awfully complicated for something that only a handful of people are going to be interested in, and it's not really a Podcast anyway, but hey, if it helps you, I'm willing to try and figure it out. I haven't yet figured out if I have to install RSS on my computer. I hope not. I had it last year when I was trying to be politically aware (snort) and subscribed to various news feeds, and it was horrible. Everytime it went to download something my computer would hang up, and the RSS would just keep grinding on and on, with very little end gain. I had to crash out many a time, then finally I just uninstalled it in frustration. I take it it's all better now? > So you don't need an actual iPod to enjoy Podcasting > any MP3 player will do. That's good to know. > The advantage to the iPod/iTunes combo is the ease > of use you get with the auto synchronization to the > iPod from iTunes, although most of the Podcatching > clients automate the download and transfer to your MP3 > player. I only understood a fraction of that, but they sure were interesting words :). What does iTunes have to do with Podcasting? I thought iTunes was a big commercial conglomerated place you went to to buy single songs for 99 cents. My shows aren't commercial and will never be for sale. The very thought is appalling. Why would iTunes offer free content? That makes no sense to me. They must have morphed when I wasn't looking. The only other thing I know about iTunes is that they don't have any Happy, because Chris checked once and mentioned it, and is the main reason I haven't paid any attention to iTunes since. > Looking forward to more great music in your Podcasts! I don't know who took it (Sharon?) but I even had it as wallpaper for awhile. It was up there for a couple of weeks before I even realized that all the others were looking directly into the camera. > of the posed picks, i like 7 the best (i think it's > the eyes). You're the 2nd person who's chosen that one. I'm beaming because, even if I don't use it, I feel great because she was looking at me. I took that picture at a record store signing in Philly in 1992.
