I'm determined to fit in artists who have been forgotten or songs that maybe got shunted in favor of other songs. Well, not always. Sometimes the "popular" song is the best one at the moment. > Please keep it up! Well, actually, I don't know anything at all. Do you have to buy music that fits specifically on your iPod? Or, I guess what I'm asking is if someone could put one of my shows on their iPod, if they wanted. You say you "don't even need an iPod" but would a show fit on it? Could you even get it onto the iPod? How much room is on an iPod? > Only change I would ask you to make: treat it like a > real radio show. I could, if I wanted to (which I don't) use a mixer board with CD players/cassette players/turntable and record onto DVD, CD, VHS, cassette or reel-to-reel. > Once the voice segments are recorded, even iTunes can > convert them to MP3 and assemble it all together. Good to know. I wouldn't rule out the possibility (never say never kind of thing) but it's probably not going to happen. For one, I no longer have my "DJ" voice. That disappeared years ago. It would be painful for people to hear, me especially. For another, I hate talking. I never was good at it, first, and second, every bit of talk that comes out of my mouth is precious time taken away from the music. Add up my talking in the course of an hour and you have at least one more song that could have been played. That's the main reason. I agree it's nice to have the info when you're away from the computer. The web page will be there though. When I make a new show (and I've already started on the 2nd) I'll just move the current page back. I've been mulling over the idea of making short sound clips to go by each name, so you can get a quick listen and know for sure ("ah yes, that was the song I was wondering about. So that's who it was!"). We'll see. > But if you can't get voice, please keep up the show > anyway. Thank you! I'll try to get as many as I can up before I abandon it in a bout of depression. (just covering my ass there :) ) I appreciate that people are listening. I'll be moving to a new web host soon that will give me all the bandwidth I need (10 gb a day!) and once I don't have that worry hanging over me, I'll probably post in some other places so others can enjoy the music. ecto downloads aren't a problem. Currently I have 50gb a month and I've only used 3gb from ectophiles downloading the show. It's just that I'll need that bandwidth for the Happy live shows (I know, I know, but it will happen). The show is still there and can be downloaded or, in some cases, streamed, but I'll be moving it and I'll give the URL when I do. Right now "www.suspended-in-gaffa.com" forwards to my rhodeshows.com site. It will soon have a site of its own. Hi, Vickie responded: > I don't know much about iPods. Well, actually, I don't > know anything at all. Do you have to buy music that > fits specifically on your iPod? Nope. iPods are portable hard drives optimized to play MP3 and AAC music files. The new iPod Photos can also store and show photos. You can also use them simply for storage (I know writers, for example, who use their iPod as a backup drive for their .doc files). > Or, I guess what I'm > asking is if someone could put one of my shows on their > iPod, if they wanted. Since it's an MP3, yours is going on my iPod the next time I do an update. :) > You say you "don't even need an iPod" > but would a show fit on it? Could you even get it onto > the iPod? How much room is on an iPod? Yes. You get it onto the iPod by loading it into the iTunes software that comes with it. How much room is on an iPod depends on what size iPod you have. The iPod Mini is only 2gb or 4gb (I think). My iPod is 40gb, but that model has been discontinued in favor of the 60gb and 80gb iPod Photo models. In short, an iPod is a pretty huge hard drive in a very small package. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #210 ***************************
