Bowen, this is what itunes says From itunes Playlists with purchased music limited to seven burns An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store can be burned no more than seven times. Excuse me for having a blonde moment, I am not understanding. are you saying that if I move around the songs I have purchased add or subtract a song or two, I can down load them without limit? Guess I misunderstood that one....but I also like having the songs in MP3 so I can use them in other programs. Thanks for the info. sherry ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 01:55:18 -0700 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Re: ecto-digest V11 #169 London, Sherry wrote: >Bowen, this is what itunes says > > From itunes > >Playlists with purchased music limited to seven burns > >An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes >Music Store can be burned no more than seven times. > > And if the song is by The Moon Seven Times, can you burn it 49 times or only once ?-) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2005 09:58:20 -0700 From: Bowen Simmons Subject: Re: ecto-digest V11 #169 On Jun 19, 2005, at 1:18 AM, London, Sherry wrote: > > An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes > Music Store can be burned no more than seven times. > > Excuse me for having a blonde moment, I am not understanding. are you > saying that if I move around the songs I have purchased add or subtract > a song or two, I can down load [burn] them without limit? That is exactly what I am saying. The policy is intended as a speed-bump for people trying to make manufacture copies of the same CD for distribution; it is intended to hinder their production plans. It is a policy that has no real effect on people making CD's for personal use. > Guess I misunderstood > that one....but I also like having the songs in MP3 so I can use them > in > other programs. Thanks for the info. I'm not telling you to buy from iTunes, but you shouldn't make your decisions based on incorrect information. I'm not going to assume you meant to say "but I'm *not* limited to that", because that helps narrow things down nicely. :) The artist that first pops to my mind is Emily Bezar (http://www.emilybezar.com). Emily melds electronic sounds with traditional instrumentation (piano, bass, drums) and combines the music with her soaring opera-trained voice. It's gorgeous stuff, that definitely fits the bill of "taking control of my heard and making it soar". Her latest album, _Angels' Abacus_ is stunning, but really it's all good. Her first one, _Grandmother's Tea Leaves_ is the most ethereal and electronic of the bunch. Other names you might want to check out: Air, Lamb, Mandalay, and Hooverphonic. And of course spending a few /d/a/y/s hours perusing the Ectophiles' Guide (www.ectoguide.com) wouldn't hurt either! It's divided into genres (among other ways), one of which is "ectronica" (http://www.ectoguide.org/genre/ectronica). That just might meet your needs nicely. Clearly the band included a precog in their lineup, and attempted to communicate with those who could decipher the message. As you may know, last year I participated in Clarion West's Write-a-thon. Thanks to the encouragement of some friends who supported me last year, I will be doing it again this year. The Write-a-thon runs the six weeks of the Clarion West Writer's Workshop, June 20 through July 30, and the funds raised go to support the nonprofit organization that sponsors the workshop every summer. Last year people signed up to sponsor me for anywhere from $1 to $25 for each of the six weeks, and I met my goal to revise a chapter of my novel each week. (I have just completed the total novel rewrite and will shortly be sending it out to prospective agents.) I have already started a new novel, and have a whole 4,400 words begun. This year I pledge that I will write 3,000 a week, so at the end of the Write-a-thon the novel will be at least 22,400 words long. Would you be willing to help urge me on? Any support, no matter how small, is welcome. Please let me know if you're willing to add to the financial pressure to keep me writing. And if you can't, please still cheer me on. You can find out more information about the Write-a-thon and Clarion West at Clarion West's website http://clarionwest.org/website/cat_special_events.html and you can watch my weekly progress on the Clarion West forums http://clarionwest.org/forums in the Clarion West Lounge area, and if you sponsor me, I'll send you a weekly email message letting you know about my progress. The Special Events page will shortly have a PayPal button for the convenience of those of you with PayPal accounts. Why you might possibly want to sponsor me: * you like me * you don't like me & want me to suffer the pains of producing words * you like Clarion West * you like reading (Clarion West has some damned impressive students & instructors) * if this novel ever gets published I'll thank you in the acknowledgements * you appreciate a good tax write-off (Clarion West is a 501(c)(3) and donations are tax deductible to the amount allowed by U.S. law, etc.). Wish me luck.
