I ran across this site recently, you all might know it already....i got totally overwhelmed by the sheer volume of downloads I found there. I have always sworn I would never buy music at itunes because they restrict the number of times you can burn the music to a cd. But, they had some songs exclusively that I wanted, so I had to succumb. I have found a wonderful little program that will "easily" convert M4P to MP3s without restrictions. If anyone wants the link email me. No they don't. They restrict the number of times you can burn a playlist to a CD. You can burn a song to a CD as many times as you like. Sometime ago I moved in with another music fan of wide ranging tastes (we first "met" on a music mailing list some ten years ago) and we're slowly consolidating our music collections and selling off duplicates. Whatever's currently available is posted at http://www.summervillain.com/cd.php. There's also a (slightly experimental) RSS feed of latest updates and an email notify list for those who want such things. cheers, dmw Please don't write me back at this address; this is an outgoing-mail-only address, because addresses I use to post to archived mailing lists aren't safe from spammers. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jun 2005 11:42:32 -0700 From: "Scallion, K.D." Subject: Music Suggestions Please Hiya. Just unlurking for a moment to ask if anybody has any suggestions for new music. I haven't really found anyone that has inspired me musically in a while. I found a couple of recent songs from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex that I absolutely adore sung by Origa and written by Yoko Kanno (sp?), One is called Rise and the other Inner Universe. I don't want to play them too much for fear I'll overplay them. I love music that is electronic but also ethereal but I'm limited to that. I absolutely adore Happy Rhodes "Many Worlds are Born Tonight" and "Warpaint" (as my faves although I love all of her music). Kate Bush's "The Dreaming" and "The Sensual World" are my favorites for Kate. I love The Gathering. My favorite song of Sarah McLachlan's is "Fear." I love songs that stretch vocals from the very low pitch to the very high soaring sopranos. I suppose I'm overly picky, but I just want something that takes control of my heart and makes it soar for even a few minutes through the length of a song. Most electronic music seems to take me into dance, and although I love Balligomingo and Delerium, I get tired of the same repetitious dance beats. I also love Japanese sensibilty of sounds (I would love something Japanese/ethereal/electronica if there is something like that) in music as well as exploration of other cultural sounds (such as Celtic, etc). I'm also not a fan much of country music. Any suggestions out there for someone looking to be inspired again? Thanks in advanced for any help/suggestions. :) Kristen ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Jun 2005 16:26:04 -0400 From: "Michael Quinn" Subject: Re: Music Suggestions Please I would recommend Jack or Jive's album "Absurdity" which I find very good. You probably would be interested in some of their earlier stuff as well since they are the only Japanese band I know of who sings in an ethereal style most of the time. Some of their earlier stuff is very "shrieky" in parts and I'm not as much of a fan of that but "Absurdity" is very soothing and dreamy all the way through and one of my favorite albums of 2004.
