Who is it? I even did a search for If you break down I'll drive out and find you, and nothing came up. Kate Bush and Happy are the only artists I know all the lyrics of (though I still haven't figured out all the lyrics to Happy's "Dead On The Vine"). I know about a quarter of Tori's and about half of Jane Siberry's. After that it gets really dodgy, and is on a song-by-song basis. There are lots of songs I could sing along to while they're playing, but not recognize the lyrics if I saw them written down and out of context. Help me out. How her post would read if Mandy weren't a really nice person who's unfailingly polite to old blind people. WHAT ARE YOU, BLIND? IT SAYS PATTY GRIFFIN ***RIGHT THERE*** IN THE CARTOON! :) When I wrote the post I thought, well, it's probably something really well-known, or at least to ectophiles, and I'll feel very silly when I find out. I had no idea how silly. I was so focused on the lyrics that I swear, I didn't even see that finger-pointing bit. Thank you Mandy. I suppose I should have done this in reverse order, but here goes. . .I'm a long-time lurker and have enjoyed this mailing list IMMENSELY. Living in Oklahoma (rural, now I live in Norman, just graduated wtih my master's from OU), I wasn't really exposed to music that was not on the radio. In fact, my family had a "party" line instead of our own phone line and we didn't get cable until my junior year in high school (1994). Therefore, joining this mailing list was and has been a godsend. I sing in a band called the Sour Grapes (http://www.thesourgrapes.com) . .shameless plug. . . .. While the band's sound is not very ecto-ish, I would absolutely love to sing with anybody around here who enjoys PJ Harvey and Emmylou Harris (sometimes hard to find around here), I'd love to get together and discuss/jam/loot stores. Not necessarily in that order :) Anyway, I've enjoyed all the regular contributors to all things ecto, and keep up the good work! Lara Fabian - En Toute Intimite Diana Krall - Live in Paris Richard Thompson Band - Live in Providence Hayley Westenra - Live from New Zealand My favorite DVD is Laura Pausini - Live 2001/2002 World Tour, can't say it's exactly ecto though.. An interesting DVD is The Ballad of Bering Strait, a documentary about a group of Russian musicians who come to America to play Country/Bluegrass music, includes a live concert. Also check out http://www.classicrockproductionsonline.com/ They've got some cool DVDs, I have the Steeleye Span one. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #166 ***************************
