I never thought I would ever buy an album of hers, but after seeing the video for "One Word", I was quite intrigued. It's one of the best videos I've seen in a while-- really has a unique comprehensive vision that's carried throughout. She's definitely had quite a makeover as well. The whole album is surprisingly good--it's very 80's, but in a good way--taking the best elements of New Order, Missing Persons, Pat Benatar, etc. I'm also surprised how Kelly can actually sing too--she doesn't have a great voice, but I expected it would make me cringe, and it doesn't do that. Linda Perry produced and co-wrote much of the material (which isn't always a good thing--but if you haven't heard Linda's solo CDs, they are definitely worth checking out.) Jeff Hanson n.r. Oh, which reminds me... The Onion has an infographic about Bjork this week. It's a very witty & human account of her move to the USA, of sharing a house with her sister, my dearest pal and singing mate: Julia Fordham; trying to pursue her already established journalistic career; dating American style and drinking tea and champagne with the likes of me and many other neighbouring eccentrics (I'm happy to say!) If you can't come in person, then please seek this book out. It deserves a read and anyway, "laughter really is the best face lift"....Joni mitchell Wednesday, June 15th - 7.30pm Barnes & Noble in The Grove Behind The Farmers Market on 3rd and Fairfax Los Angeles Thanks...Judith Owen ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #164 ***************************
