I mean, how can you argue with an album whose opening song contains the line "Yes and every bloody emperor's got his hand up history's skirt/as he poses for posterity over the fresh-dug dirt" and ends with a song with a lilting, almost jazzy beat and, at one point, Peter Hammill shouting, "Ah, come on! Surf's up!". The only downside is disc 2, which contains 10 improvised jams. Much as I love this band, that's 10 more than I thought I'd ever need, and I'm not sure my mind is much changed. Addled, yes, but not changed. A couple of listens, and I'm shaken, but not stirred. adam k. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 May 2005 11:21:41 +1200 From: Karen Hester Subject: Anneli Drecker Hello Newbie Angie :) Have you seen Anneli Drecker's new one in Canada? Instead of a bottle of wine, when I go over to somebody's house for dinner I bring a CD by an indie musician and introduce my friends to new music. I've taken that notion and created a website devoted to promoting giving CDs as presents: www.givecds.com. The website is brand new, not yet complete, etc. It's going to grow over time as more musical recommendations are added. (And there is, of course, a link to the Ectophile's Guide on www.givecds.com.) - --Bill n.p. Please? F|r Kate Bush Fans nachdr|cklich empfohlen! Many worlds are born tonight" lieferbar. Thanks in advance!
