The answer turned out to be a resounding yes. She also played an acoustic set of very strong, melodic pop, accompanied by another guitarist whose name escapes me now. I was also fortunate enough to get an early copy of the album from her after the show, which is being released in March. The CD is far more produced than what she played at the club and features some star power from Limp Bizkit's DJ Lethal, of all people, providing trip-hop beats. I think I like the stripped-down and recorded versions about equally. Eliie's website draws a Kate comparison, but it sounds to me like she'll appeal to fans of Imogen Heap or Dido. She has March Knitting Factory dates coming up in both NYC and L.A.so heads-up if you're in the area. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Feb 2005 01:02:37 -0800 From: Paul Schreiber Subject: No lyin': Adrianne in like a lion Sat/March 5 Short Attention Span Version - --------------------------------------------- Adrianne. One name. One really good house concert. adrimusic.com RSVP. Suggested donation: $10 Saturday, March 5, 2005. 8 p.m. Sharp. Sunnyvale, California 94085 What's going on - --------------------------------------------- Okay, so the headline was bad. Maybe really bad. But I'll make it up to you with some good music. Some *really* good music. Duck in from the rainstorm, grab some tea (or perhaps a glass of wine) and sit down for an evening of songs and stories. About Adrianne - --------------------------------------------- Adrianne been called "a pure musical embodiment of soul" by _Soundcheck_. The good folks at SESAC say she's "riveting." _Performing Songwriter_ featured her as a DIY pick. She's a finalist in this year's international songwriting competition. You get the idea. But you don't, really. You don't get Adrianne until you see her. Live. The spark, the intensity, the emotion. Close your eyes and listen. Open them and revel. Be there. I remember chatting with Mooman and Grocible on IRC! :) IRC is also where I found Ecto, but not on #ecto. It was from Carrot on #30plus. She recommended this mailing list and only later did I visit #ecto.
