Another amazing album. Rachael Sage - Private Record / Ballads & Burlesque ... Rachael Sage keeps on releasing albums faster than I can follow. Ephemera - Monolove ... the three young women from Bergen, Norway releases another lovely album after the other. Pamela Means - Single Bullet Theory ... just amazing. The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls ... probably my favorite album this year, and to be able to walk into a store around here and buy it was something new. Dadafon - Harbour ... Kristin Asbjxrnsen is the most talented songwriter and performer Norway has had in many many years. For those who have heard Krxyt and/or like Bjvrk - run out there on the net and get all the Dadafon albums (but do not stumble). And the news that they are gonna release another album in august is just beyond amazing. Tanya Donelly - Whisky Tango Ghost ... as someone wrote earlier - you didn't know that she had a really lovely voice before she released this album. Dreambeach - Making Friends With Gravity ... haven't had the time to listen enough to this album but it is already up there with the best from last year Emily Bezar - Angels' Abacus ... finally! Deirdre Flint - The Shuffleboard Queens Sissy Wish - You May Breathe ... great debut from this norwegian band And then to the awards : The Alien earworm award goes to - Ane Brun - My Lover Will Go The jury members just couldn't get this song out of their head. Ane Brun also gets the award for most looked forward to album of 2005. The Alien award for best albums from the last list : The jury couldn't decide which of the following albums to pick so it went for a tie: 1. Dadafon - Visitor 2. Noe Venable - The World Is Bound By Secret Knots 3. Vienna Teng - Waking Hour 4. Ane Brun - Spending Time With Morgan - -- Yngve ****************************************** * One alien has come, unalien to one ***** ****************************************** ***** Blessed be!!! ********************** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jan 2005 19:33:08 -0400 From: Paula Cotton Subject: New First of June album "Lorelei" Just wanted to say I bought the new FOJ album the other day and am rather enjoying it:) Anybody else picked up their newest release? Paula ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jan 2005 21:52:03 -0500 From: hkhill Subject: new Tori Just heard a cut today from a new cd from Tori Amos. Think the cd is The Beekeeper. Why hasn't anyone talked about this one yet! This was the first I had heard of a new production. The cut sounded soft and lush -- a continuation of the Scarlet Walk sound. Guess married life is rounding off the sharp edges. Of course, I only heard one track. Holly, who really wishes Happy would get back into the studio. Why move to a farm if you don't plan on making your own recording space? ;-) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 20:05:34 -0800 From: Ethan Straffin Subject: Re: new Tori On Jan 7, 2005, at 6:52 PM, hkhill wrote: > Just heard a cut today from a new cd from Tori Amos. According to The Dent , the first single, "Sleeps With Butterflies," will officially be released to radio on Jan. 10 (maybe that's the one you heard?), and _The Beekeeper_ will be out on Feb. 22. Funny...I loved _Scarlet's Walk_ so much that it truly doesn't feel as though it's been 26+ months, and I could easily wait at least another half a year for the next chapter in the Tori saga. But I'll take it in 46 days if she insists. Ethan ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V11 #7 *************************
