Indeed, she will! We're over-due for a trip down the west coast. Where are you located? (L.A.?) I have good friends and colleagues in NoCal and SoCal, and have aimed to get together with folks for the past couple of years. In 2003, I was working on setting up dates - looking at recommended venues such as the Hotel Cafe and Largo in L.A., Java Joe's in San Diego (many happy memories in that place), and, in the North, the home of the impresarial eminence Paul Schreiber. However, that was the year that Allison was being courted by U.S. record labels, and, while it proved to be an invaluable time for getting wisdom, it was not a period in which much physical activity occurred. Touring for that whole year was, essentially, shelved. Once Allison rejected the record co. promises and returned to Canada from New York in the Fall of 2003 she formed her own record label, and through 2004 created two albums. She toured eastern Canada with a couple of U.S. dates (Ann Arbor and NYC). Now everything is back on her own track, 2005 promises to be a big year for touring. Early in the New Year, I'll be working on more Canada and U.S. dates, and her first European concert tour (slated for November 2005). We'd love to visit California. It's been years since Alley played for Pearl Jam fans in Seattle, and, the time is nigh for tripping further down the coast ( : FYI, I've just posted a movie file of Allison performing "Hallelujah" live on her Music page @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/music.html Happy holidays, indeed ~ Adrian ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Dec 2004 03:41:50 -0800 From: "abaton" Subject: Vorontsova~ Paris debut For those of you in France this Holiday season, Julia Vorontsova, the Russian folk singer will debut in Paris on Thursday December 23rd. I think there's also a weekly nationwide syndication of the show. Every year, John has two "best of" shows, one of music chosen by listeners and one of his own selections. The ballot for the listener's show is online. There are several ecto regulars in the list: Susan McKeown and Bjork among them. It's a great list for discovering music. It's very long, and he included a short description of each nominee. There are a number of artists I want to check out. I also found that some of my favorites had new CDs this past year that I'd missed (Charming Hostess!). http://www.wnyc.org/music/nspoll/ One of my enthusiastic picks for the year is the group Boy with a Fish. This is a new group whose core members include Judith Hyman and Jeff Claus, former members of The Horseflies. - --Valerie Richardson The nominees for the 2004 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Dec 2004 14:39:26 -0600 From: kerrywhite@webtv.net (kerry white) Subject: NOW again Hi, PBS' NOW with Bill Moyers is going to give me an ulcer. Kerry, you're not the only one getting an ulcer. I'm with you guys. Thanks, kerry, for bringing it up. Even more important than Blinded By The Right is Brock's most recent book, THE REPUBLICAN NOISE MACHINE which details the right-wing's 30+ year plan and success in taking over the media airwaves. This all started way back when Nixon was president and it's been methodical, controlled, and very very specific. The Democrats have been weak confetti compared to the right-wing's steely resolve in taking over this country. Democracy is dying, and most Americans don't even know it. Not that there aren't people still fighting. If we had a halfway decent media Americans would know all the things that everyone else in the world already knows, such as that Bush is and his minions are taking us down a fascist path, and that the 2000, 2002 and 2004 elections were stolen. If people were told the truth, and if people were really paying attention, and if people really cared about this country, we'd see an outpouring of outrage. But people aren't being told the truth, and people aren't paying much attention, and most people really don't care. Pity. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #349 ***************************
