Anyway, if anyone's still interested (and if you're not, take a look anyway, it's produced by Eric Rosse who produced Little Earthquakes and Under The Pink for Tori Amos) then she's just put a couple of tracks up on MySpace for people to hear in advance of her first independent release which is expected early next year. Anyone in London, she's playing The Bedford in Balham on the 18th... www.myspace.com/nerinapallot I like Iowa more than I like Heart Attack, but apparently neither of these are the likely singles from the album... I am falling in love with this CD. She's a bit of a folkie. www.karinepolwart.com She's playing at the Purcell Rooms in London this Sunday as part of the Folk in the Fall series -- on a four-way bill with Abby Lathe, Kelly While and Kirsty McGhee. I am considering it although it's a school night. I have to awake at 6 AM for work, but at least the Purcell Rooms are right by Waterloo Station for the 1 1/2- 1 3/4 train ride home. I highly recommend it--though I can't understand a word she says, she's one of my all-time favorite singers-- very passionate voice, always accompanied by top-notch musicians that add a worldly, sound. It's available at GreekCity.com for $35 CDN ($26.76 US). That's a pretty good deal--I've paid that for most of her single CDs. "A double cd album featuring Haris Alexiou's outstanding career commencing with her first recordings with Minos to her last 2 new songs including intermediary stops with Universal and ending with her current endeavour under her own label, Estia. This musical anthology features 40 of Haris Alexiou's best-of-the-best and is accompanied with a booklet inlaid with song lyrics and the year of it's publication. . . considered a must-have for your Greek music collection." Hi, If you're out there in California, Oregon, or Washington, this is for you. :) Rachael Sage is heading West for a big tour swing ... and I'm all about meeting as many ectophiles as possible at these shows, so please make your plans accordingly! It all starts this Friday, November 5 at Salzer's Records in Ventura, CA, where Rachael will be doing an in-store at 7 pm. Then on Saturday, November 6 she'll be at Zen Sushi in L.A. Hopefully certain L.A. ectophiles paulkim will be able to make it to this one? :) Sunday, November 7 is Epic Arts Studios in Berkeley. If you're in the Bay Area and can't make it to that one, please come by the Red Devil Lounge on Tuesday the 9th -- that's a big one and we'd love to pack the place. Now for the Oregon folks: Thursday, November 11: another in-store, at Music Millenium in Portland. Friday, November 12: Touchstone Coffee, also in Portland. Saturday, November 13: Cafe Paradiso, in Eugene. The tour ends up in Seattle on Monday the 15th, at The Living Room on Fremont Avenue. I know there are ecto contingents in all these places ... please come out to support a fellow ectophile, and hang out with me at the cd table! (Of course it's all about me. :) All the pertinent details for these shows are at . Hope to see a bunch of you guys over the next couple weeks! =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 17:09:34 -0800 From: Sue Trowbridge Subject: Re: Attention West Coasters! I wanted to add, for the benefit of people in the Bay Area who have never been to Epic Arts -- this is a GREAT venue. It actually feels more like a house concert space than a club. The people who come to shows there tend to be real music fans who are extremely respectful of the performer and their fellow patrons. And, a plus for those of us who need our beauty sleep, they have an 11 PM curfew, so shows tend to start early (7:30 for Rachael's show, according to Epic Arts' web site at http://www.epicarts.org/). And as if you needed more reason to show up -- it's directly across the street from the Ashby BART station, but if you drive in, you can park in the gigantic BART lot! One of my clients is having a reading that night so I'm not 100% sure I can make it, but I may be able to sneak away ;) I'll certainly try. - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Nov 2004 12:11:51 +1030 From: "Lloyd, Bronwyn (NWAHS)" Subject: Dead Can Dance Back Together!!
