(repeated a couple of times before fading out). it's a ballad (though not a stripped-down acoustic one) with a descending melody and the male singer has a gently melancholic, reassuring voice. the background visuals include red cross workers helping out at disaster sites and war zones. they don't play much of this song, so i don't have a lot to go on -- i tried a few google searches but couldn't come up with anything. sound familiar to anyone? thanks, stuart ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 13:37:31 -0500 From: "Southpaw" Subject: RE: attention midwesterners... The STL show last night was WONDERFUL!!! Rachael sounds amazing live. I was really blown away by her! I also got to meet the infamous Meredith! I even got to see Meredith do her happy, Red Sox are going to the World Series, dance. (Something that only occurs about every 90 years I am told.) If anyone has a chance to catch one of the upcoming shows, do it! You won't be disappointed!!! PS of course I dont really like baseball (although the cap I do have is emblazoned with a red sox logo as i went to college right next to fenway park...) PPS i am a dolphins fan so take pity on me :) PPPS go sox! She is playing in Alameda tonight, I've had her on my music website for at least a month. She's at Speisekammer, a venue owned by the former owners of Cafe Du Nord, in San Francisco. Thursday is their usual night for music, there are probably some other musicians tonight too, but the website is behind schedule, they only go up to Sept 16. Shows usually start at 9pm. I wasn't too hopeful, since I was only going to be there for 4 days. But luckily, she was indeed playing in Redwood City on the second day of my trip. I quite enjoyed her live show, and since my friend had previously shot some video for her, I got a nice introduction. Definitely a great way to spend Friday night! She's now in the studio recording an EP, so look for more music soon. If she's in your area (which is mostly the SF area, but occasionally she ventures out), give her a listen. It's not often a "new" performer is so fresh and interesting these days. - -- - -- | Greg Dunn | if i was twice the man i could | | gregdunn@indy.net | be... i'd still be half of what | | The Sultan of Slack(tm) | you need. | | http://www.indy.net/~gregdunn/ | Trent Reznor | ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 20:41:44 -0700 From: raven@igc.org Subject: Re: Megan Slankard encounter At 07:02 PM 10/21/2004, Greg Dunn wrote: >I quite enjoyed her live show, I finally saw her live two weeks ago at Espresso Garden, and she did two 48-min sets that night... she also allows people to record her shows, so I recorded it that night, got a very good 2 CD set.
