Granted, I am and most likely will remain Peter's bitch. (He and Tori being the two musical artists whom my agnosticism has the most trouble explaining.) The warehouse was festooned ('garlanded') with pictures of the Cocteau Twins and their album covers. A LDC projector splashed images of their videos on the wall, so one got to see Liz's Hannibal Lecter eyes and spastic dancing five-ten-fiftyfold. Attendees were given gift bags stuffed full of goodies, including an official t-shirt, and tons of free CDs from the presenting bands. There were lots of Goths in the crowd, as to be expected. (The dance floor was filled with people doing that swirly, interpretive ballet thing they do). But there were a smattering of other "types" as well. I was pleased to see that I wasnt the only person of color there. Three cover bands played versions of C-Twins songs. I missed Bethany Curves set, caught the middle of Red Lilys set (they did a credible version of "Pink Orange Red.") and most of Lisa Dewey's set, which featured a strong version of "Persephone." Pictures of the event are linked to http://www.cocteautwins.com. See if you can see me (Im in a 4AD t-shirt). Next years event will be held in London. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! So, I'm Cliff Furnald, music journalist/publisher, hack musician, virtual record shop owner and volunteer radio geek in Connecticut. Howdy (again). My excuse to post the first time is a worthy one, though: Pete Morton is a Brit ballad singer, guitarist and a fine songwriter (and a nice guy, too!). He's going to be doing a benefit concert as a live broadcast for WPKN radio in Bridgeport, CT (www.wpkn.org), so I just wanted to alert folks within a few miles of there that we are offering a combo of a seat in the 'studio audience' and an autographed CD of his latest release in exhange for a donation to our little non-commercial radio station. All the info 9and a few short cound clips) are here: www.wpkn.org/morton/ You can find out more about Pete on his own web site here: www.petemorton.com/ and his new CD (shameless self-plug alert!) is here: www.cdroots.com/harb-swarth.html thanks, cliff - --------------------- "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we.
