Dear People of America: Our first foray to the Left Coast was a rousing success, thank you all for coming out in droves, and so impeccably dressed to boot! The Dresden Dolls are touring the United States in full for the first time ever, and you must come. If you can't find a city close enough to drive to, then skateboard. Or hire a coach. Please, please Buy Tickets in Advance! Many of the shows on our last tour sold out, and we can only sneak so many weeping people in though the backstage door before the club gets suspicious. .........CALLING ALL INNER AND OUTER FREAKS........ If you are interested in joining the performance Brigade (the official motley crew of those who shall decorate our shows with displays of physical talent, beauty and decadence!) please join the new discussion group. The idea of this group is to help people in various cities collaborate and coordinate ideas to enliven the atmosphere at any and all of the upcoming shows. Living Statues, Sword-Swallowers, Lotus-Eaters, Swing Dancers, Fire-Breathers, Origami-Folders, Backdrop-Painters, Flower-Givers, yodeling troupes, mass streaks, die-ins, love-ins, synchronized umbrella opening-and-closing....matters not. Anything goes, my friends. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_brigade/ and start talking. INTRODUCING DRESDEN DOLLS TICKETING! First, just a reminder that we still have seats available for the Kyler England/Kristin Cifelli show this Sunday. See http://www.livejournal.com/users/geoffroi/2921.html for more info. I'm pleased to welcome Wendy Rule to Yale Avenue Houseconcerts on Friday September 17th at 8pm. Wendy hails from Australia, and is on her 4th tour of the US. I first saw her on her debut tour of the US in 2001, and I'm really happy she's back! Described alternately by local press as "the white witch of rock" and (my personal favorite :) "Enya with balls", Rule has an amazing voice and writes gorgeous songs about things ranging from her Wiccan faith to Celtic and Greek mythology, and many things in between. She will be performing solo, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar. I encourage you to check out the sound samples she has on her web site and make plans to come expand your musical horizons with us. It promises to be a very special evening. Now for the details: Friday, September 17 2004 Join us at 8pm for snacks and drinks Mail yhc@smoe.org for reservations and directions The suggested donation is $10, which all goes to the performer. My house is just 2 blocks away from the Wakefield commuter rail station, and is just a mile from Route 128, with plenty of on-street parking. We can also arrange rides to and from the Oak Grove T stop in Malden. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #248 ***************************
