When I've gone to look at the artist web sites, I'm surprised to find that the CD I have is available, but the cover has been redone to include the new name! Anyone have some other examples of this? It seems like it must have happened for bigger named artists when re-releasing early work. - --- Grey Eye Glances' first two CDs were originally released under the name Sojourn, then later as GEG. I've got their Further On CD under both names, haven't find the Sojourn version of Songs of Leaving though. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Aug 2004 10:02:32 -0400 From: Stuart Myerburg Subject: Re: Tim & Neil Finn in Austin Wednesday night I am a huge Brothers Finn fan, particularly a Neil Finn fan. I saw their show in Atlanta last night and I definitely recommend going. They did a great mix of songs from the first Finn Brothers album, new music from the yet-to-be-released new album, a lot of Split Enz songs, and Crowded House material that Tim and Neil worked on (so basically things from _Woodface_). Pipa Pinon is a good friend of mine from Santa Cruz, we've played together many times, in SC and SF. She has a wonderful innocent voice, very pure, and in person is an absolute nutball and lots of fun live. Dreambeach is the duo of her and her bass-playing hubby Daniel, what they are calling themselves as a unit. Sometimes Dreambeach includes a couple other players, but I really like it when it's just her voice and the lovely bass, an amazing duo. Daniel is very well known in SC and all over the west coast, as he is an amazing bass player and recording session player in his own right plus he's sort of invented a very wild style of live bass (gotta see it). Pipa has been pretty well known for years in the area and is still known as Pipa, by both friends and fans. I think calling themselves Dreambeach is a nod to her husband, for all his writing and work and contribution to the project. Otherwise, that old thing happens "Pipa and her husband, Mr Pipa"...ya know? Or the Invisable Man Syndrome. Just ask my boyfriend Krystov, didg player and hard-working long term Land of the Blind member, he just loves it when he is totally ignored or asked "oh, are you in the band with Cyoakha?" or "what do you do?" grrrrrr (record, do all the techie stuff, buy and drive and keep up the tour van, help write the music-tech side, play at every gig, move all the equiptment, set it all up while she's talking to people etc...etc...) It's the old "Mr. Cher" kinda deal, probably why Pipa now calls their music Dreambeach instead of just Pipa Pinon. But she's still Pipa. cyoakha ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #215 ***************************
