I thought people might want to know about this one: Tracy Grammer has a new 7-song EP out. Something to tide people over until her upcoming studio album (produced by John Jennings) comes out next year. The EP is called Verdant Mile and features her first self-penned song along with a bunch of covers and a great set of fiddle tunes. Her voice sounds gorgeous, and the accompaniment by fellow Signature Sounds artist Jim Henry is wonderful. I've included the official blurb about it and track list from her web site below. You can order it from there, it's $10. It will not be sold in stores, just online and at shows (and even though the site might still talk about pre-ordering, it is being shipped out now, no delay). http://www.tracygrammer.com or http://daveandtracy.globalhosting.com/verdantmile.php :) Jess ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This acoustic project was recorded live in an Oregon studio over two days in early June. The exception is the fiddle medley, which was arranged over the phone and recorded on opposite coasts. These songs are postcards from various points along the Verdant Mile, a mythical field I walk when I need to reconcile with the rivers I cannot turn, the birds that won't come, and my reluctant angels... TRACKS: 1. the verdant mile (grammer) 2. this dirty little town (kieran kane) 3. wasn't born to follow (carole king/gerry goffin) 4. solitary man (neil diamond) 5. when i reach the place i'm goin' (emory gordy jr/joe henry) 6. jackson's tune/trickster tale/st. anne's reel (grammer/unk/trad; arr grammer & henry) 7. old paint (trad arr grammer) produced by tracy grammer & jim henry tracy grammer: guitar, mandola, violin, vocals jim henry: mandolin, mandola, dobro, vocals The long-awaited, much-anticipated studio album of previously unrecorded Dave Carter songs will come out sometime in 2005. - -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jul 2004 21:53:13 -0700 From: Ethan Straffin Subject: Latest Tori mix Yep, she's up to three full 80-minute discs now, and only the second artist to make it to that landmark (the first being Lloyd Cole). How many [here] are aware that in 2006 or so, all the TVs we have won't have anything to pick up? TV is now Analog. In the 50's when color TVs came out they had to be able to play the old B & W signals. The switch to Digital, which the Gov't and FCC have already mandated, will not accommodate Analog. Cables that claim they are already digital are kinda lying, most all signals are digital from the satelite down but if you do not have a Digital TV you are getting analog. In 2005 all TVs sold bigger than (I think) 25" will have to have a digital tuner. Last I read, there were 40,000 wide screen TV sets sold, but, only 4,000 were sold with digital tuners, the rest are all for big home theater movies. Right now, all stations must be sending out both Analog and Digital. Once 85% of viewers have digital all the stations are to shut off their analog transmitters. The FCC can then auction off all the bandwidth from Channel 2 through 13 to the cell phone industry. If you buy a big expensive analog TV they will probably not warn you about needing a set top box later to get down-converted digital. Bye, KrW I'm Peter Pan! I'm perpetually young!! OW!!
