It's been such a long time!!!! I hope you're having a wonderful summer wherever you are or end of winter for those of you in oz and that part of the world. There's so much to tell , it's hard to find a place to start. So, I'll just have to find some kind of beginning.... Firstly, I should say that my writing trip to Sweden in the middle of June was lots of fun and a success. I worked with a few artists over there: first, a talented girl from Estonia, named Kerli. Then, I worked with Alex Parks, the winner of last year's Fame Academy, the television show in the UK. We wrote a few songs with some of the guys in the Murlyn music group and then she came to L.A., where she and I wrote a few songs on our own at my studio. I'm told Alex will start recording her album in August and September, partly in England and then over here, in the states, namely, Los Angeles. A surprise came my way, for which I'm very grateful and excited about. A company called Modena International Music approached my publishers, A7 music, in Brighton, England, and asked if I would be interested in performing at a festival in Fano, Italy, which is south of Milan, near Ancona on the Northeastern coast of Italy. Of course, I responded that I would love to and I'm going off to Italy this Sunday, August 1st, and will be performing August 3rd at the festival. So, for those of you in Italy, here are the details for my performance: Date of performance: August 3rd, 2004 Venue: Lido "Il Violina e la Selce" Festival Fano, Italy Venue opening time: 8 p.m. My performance time: 9 pm Also performing on the night @ 10:15 pm. : Ivan Segreto, then another act at 11:15 pm. Info about the location: It's a square with unlimited capacity by the seaside Admission: Free of charge! This festival goes on for a few weeks and I'm told that Wynton Marsalis is performing at some time as well. Hope to see some of you there! I'll be doing some of my newer songs there which I'm looking forward to. Joining me, in the 3 piece band, (including myself) are Gary Mallaber on drums and percussion as well as some keyboards-Gary has played with such great artists as Van Morrison, Steve Miller and Bruce Springsteen. He is a multi-talented musician and I'm pleased to have him there with me. Also joining us will be Marcus Hawkins, a great guitarist that I met while playing with my mentor Carlos Guitarlos. Marcus will play guitar as well as bass on some of the songs. He's played with a great band here in L.A. called the "Bonedaddy's". I'm pleased to have him on board as well. One of the new songs I'll be doing is called "I Wish You Love" which I wrote a few months ago and is going to be on a cd called "Marry Me" along with many artists including RuPaul. The cd is being sponsored by the ACLU which stands for the American Civil Liberties Union and is in support of Gay Rights and Gay Marriage. I'm very happy to be involved with that project. I'll contact you and let you know when it will be officially released. Shortly after Italy, on August 12th, I will be going to Australia to join other writers from various countries and publishing companies to a first time event being held in Brisbane to write with and for top Australian artists. I'm told there will be lots of media coverage. I'll be down there for two weeks, in sunny Brisbane. Can't be all bad, eh, mate?????!!!! Then comes September.......I'm looking forward to beginning the recording of the duets cd that I'm doing with Carlos Guitarlos. That should commence mid-September. One of my friends, Birdie, recently put me together with a fabulous legend of a writer named Phillip Springer who actually wrote the classic Christmas song, "Santa Baby" which I recorded and put up on my website every holiday season. The song has been recorded by so many great artists, including Eartha Kitt, Madonna and many others. It's such an honor to be working with Phillip! We may be doing some writing together in September in New York. Then I'm off to the UK to do some radio interviews with Carlos on his very first trip to the UK at the end of September. We will also be doing a performance which is now scheduled for September 30th at the Borderline in Central London. I told you there was a lot going on!!!!! And there is more to come-One of the most important things: "The Best of Shakespear's Sister" Compilation CD is going to be released by Warner Bros. Records in October. It was initially scheduled to come out in August, but it's been pushed back to October. Once a get a confirmation date, I will notify you. I will probably be over in England around that time doing some writing and who knows what else????? Ok I'm exhausted after having just written a mini-novel here and just thinking about everything that's going on in the next few months!!!! I'll try not to wait so long to send you the next newsletter. Wishing you all the very best. Lots of luv; Marcy :-) xoxoxoxo ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #209 ***************************
