Hi, has anyone familiar with the works of Isaac Asimov's work seen the movie? In all his books Robots could not attack anyone unless it was to restrain a person who was going to commit murder. The ads I have seen seem to have lots of swarming, attacking Robots. It has had a BIG box office, but, then there are more action movie lovers than Asimov readers (or any kind of readers, as I see statistics showing a slump in American reading) 8-( bye, KrW I'm Peter Pan! "A simply suborbital vocalist", join CYOAKHA GRACE of the tribal trance band LAND OF THE BLIND as she shapeshifts into into new duo, "SHAMANIC-ELECTRONIC" trance, EDWALKING, celebrating the edges of musica. Cyoakha has been amassing big low chill out beats creating instant improv "sonic-journeying songs". Live looping, keys, percussion, flutes, voice and deep earth didgeridoo then layer up, with Cyo and Krystov (of The Blind). This combo of electronic, and organic tribal sounds, live creation and trance voice has never been heard before. Bay area special musical guests join us, such as Ninah Pixie of Big City Orchestra on toy piano/and voice and Pablo Burton on guitar. With the element of dance and world, but put into major chill space, you are entranced and traveling in slow motion. Add the surprise element of instant one-of-a-kind-songs with live looping, and nothing is ever the same again. "Truly world class world vocals, a mix of goth, Delirium, Dead Can Dance and Morcheeba style singing, but with a little more omph as in much more powerful divas like Bjork, Dido, and Kate Bush" Worlds without Words. This Thursday, July 22 at 10pm, me, myself, and Jeff will be playing at The Lizard Lounge in Lancaster, PA. The Lizard Lounge is inside the Chameleon Club on Water Street. A lot of our Amish mailing list-ers have been begging us (via snail-mail, of course) to play within buggy distance...so here we come, Jeremiah. To any industry on the list.....yes, we've found our demographic. Regarding our new cd, "X" .......the real ones, the ones that will be professionally replicated and not burned on my computer, will be ready for sale in about 2 weeks. They are re-mixed, mastered, and include a solo version of "No Other God" (as well as the Brian Molko duet version). They also have beautiful artwork by Howard Forbes. (Howard also did the much praised artwork for "Breasticles".) Oh, and there's more!.... you can trade your old "X" cd's (the burned ones)for the pretty new ones!!! Just bring the cd in to one of our shows, and Tommy, our merch man, will gladly give you a new one....or mail it to me at: KristeenYoung c/o Looking Glass 632 Broadway Ste.902 NY, NY 10012 USA Best of All Things, KristeenYoung ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Jul 2004 14:43:23 -0400 From: fingerpuppets Subject: Lancaster, PA., HERE WE COME! just so everyone knows (and no one complains), the newsletter from kristeen young was sent to ecto. normally, i forward the copy i get personally rather than approving the copy she sends to the list since (1) it's less spammy and (2) it's more obvious what is going on. but, i accidentally dustbinned my copy, so i just approved the other. hence the seeming spam. sorry if people get confused. woj - ----- Forwarded message from Kristeen Young ----- From: Kristeen Young Subject: Lancaster, PA., HERE WE COME! I have been so impressed by the combination of simplicity and exquisite craft that I thought it prudent to recommend this, as well as the even simpler (and exquisite) debut "The Creek Drank The Cradle" (and the EP "The Sea and The Rhythm") to ecto. I hope this isn't heretical because Iron and Wine is basically Samuel Beam. It's a male vocal so not strictly ecto (then again his sister sings harmonies...). But the music is so good I feel I'd be remiss not to shout it to the world. And Jeff Buckley is (deservedly) a God here, so I suspect Sam will do fine. Googling Iron and Wine will get you all the other info you may need. This is great music, great words, and I feel certain most all of you can appreciate this music as much as I. One of the best things about growing older is having children that can manage to keep you abreast of what is happening in music. While I'm sure there are plenty of other fifty-seven year old Radiohead fans out there, I doubt many of us old coots have managed to be exposed to new and subtle music like this. Thanks, Richard! Anyway, I'd like to nominate Iron and Wine for the Ectophile's Guide. This is some of the best new (to me. at least) music I've heard in some time.
