Her last album was frikkin brilliant, but after dangling the carrot of a promised new album late last year, I hear nothing but crickets chirping. Her name is Happy Rhodes, in case anyone's forgotten it. :-) In all seriousness -- any news from anyone concering the release of a new album? Anyone? Bueller? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. I havent seen many world music performers outside of Irish so it was a real treat to see something different. In my more usual concert vein, Juliet Turner live was unfreaking believable...I really enjoy her new album, but seeing it performed live was just wow. What a voice. What songs. I really appreciate the album more now after seeing her live. Plus there was a wonderful opening act Sarah Gillespie http://www.sarahgillespie.com [and another who ranked among the worst singer/songwriters I have ever heard. Luckily i have blocked her name from my memory - I would have rather listened to Milli Vanilli or death metal than sit through another one of her songs]. To wrap up the concerts was Susan Mckeown's gig at Momo's (which is a wonderfully funky morroccan restaurant that serves ridiculously priced drinks...I can now say I have spent close to $20 for one cocktail...sheesh) The gig was downstairs in what must be the private VIP lounge on the weekends but is used for world music performance during mondays and tuesdays. *pictures will be forthcoming on the web shortly*. Susan was in fine form with guitarist and fiddler in tow. Most of the songs were off the recent records - In London So Fair was amazing, Sweet Liberty so poignant, Eggs in her Basket missing the mariachi backing but still delightful. Definately a good two weeks musically... cheers jason np Bjork - Post Live ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #183 ***************************
