It's just her aching vocals and two guitars. I don't know if she's singing about broken hearts or broken lives, but it's moody, dark, dreamy, yearning. She has a Siberry-ish voice. Not too concerned with prettifying anything but tuneful. - --Neile - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neile Graham .... neile@sff.net/@drizzle.com ... www.sff.net/people/neile Les Semaines: A Weekly Journal ........ www.sff.net/people/neile/semaines Editor, The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music ........... www.ectoguide.org Workshop Administrator, Clarion West ................ www.clarionwest.org ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 May 2004 13:17:01 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Our next house concert: Kym Tuvim Hi, The final House O'Muzak living room concert before we take our annual summer hiatus is coming up next Sunday in New Haven, CT... Sunday, May 23 at 4pm: KYM TUVIM Last year, we saw Holly Figueroa and Edie Carey, two distinguished alumnae of our series do a show at The Bitter End in New York City. Halfway through Holly's set she invited Kym Tuvim, one of her friends from Seattle up on stage to sing a song with her. Right then we knew we had to have Kym here to perform someday. A versatile and captivating performer, Kyms down to earth, openhearted style is evident on stage. She can have the audience laughing one moment and tearing up the next. Her new CD, On The Mend is a wonderful collection. Fans of Edie Carey, Holly Figueroa and Kris Delmhorst are sure to love Kym's music as well. This is a perfect opportunity to discover some great new music. The garden will still be there (and the sun still up) when you get home. :) ...with a voice alternately confident and vulnerable but consistently sensual...literate... listening to the emotion, sincerity, and earthiness of Tuvim's vocals will convince you she's fine now and getting better all the time. -Minor7th.com The suggested donation is $10 per person, every cent of which will go to Kym. As usual, we'll have yummy snacks and soft drinks as well. There are sound samples at Kym's web site, . More info on the show is at .
