Penelope Swales. She's an amazing performer, but I usually don't recommend her CDs because I don't think they come anywhere near capturing the spirit of her shows. However, she does have a live recording, "Live at Woodford". Again, I've just cut and pasted from the address bar. If anyone has another, more accurate way of doing this, please let me know! Fans might be surprised to see that the article refers to "That's Entertainment" as "a Judy Garland film", along with "Wizard of Oz". Mmmm. Hope you can find it, adam k. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 May 2004 13:58:07 +0200 From: Yves Denneulin Subject: Re: paris Hi there, > was wondering if there are any ectos in paris who > could tell me what stores to visit and so forth. Well I am not in Paris and I seldom go there now but I remember some second hand stores in the "quartier latin" (that's the 6th district) that had a lot of choices in ectophilic music. The best is Jussieu music, close to the Jussieu university, rue Line (website : http://www.jussieumusic.com/). There are 3 stores in the same street with different musical styles. They are not cheap, though, most CDs are in the 10-15 EUR range. There are other nice little stores close to "les halles"(1st district), the bigger one, also a library with a huge choice of used books and magazines, is called "Gilda" (36, rue des Bourdonnais), they have lots of stuff some at really low prices (in the 1 EUR range!) and they speak english (well, they used to, I don't know now). In the same area you have lots of stores which name and address I can't remember but just walking around you'll find easily, since it is a beautiful area with little cars it should be a pleasure. > am going in july. It's the best time of the year to go there, the weather is great and a lot of peoples are on holidays so the traffic is not that bad. I hope you will enjoy your time! Here is a new message from me after 3-4 years of silence. I re-sub to ecto a couple of weeks ago and I am pleased to see that things are still as pleasant and peoples as nice now as it was then. Not to mention the high level of information in each post of course.:-) After a 3 years cut (got married, had a daughter, lost free time :-) ) I barely know half of the artists mentioned. At least, my daughter seems to enjoy ectophilic music, she really loves Maria McKee, Jane Siberry, Happy and Dar Williams. I hope to introduce her, and the twins we are expecting for the end of the summer, to many many great music in the future. Anyway, I will stop rambling now and just say that it feels great to be back! It should be noted that the responsibility for the poor initial releases lies entirely with the label, Bellaphon. Nektar weren't consulted in any way and in fact were quite disgusted with the results to the point where they advised fans not to buy them. The band are now quite delighted with these 'Nektar approved' remasters. Nice to see a familiar name that has been absent for so long. No one has been upholding the honor of France on the list while you were gone, so it's nice to have a French voice on ecteau again. Congrats on all your life changes too.
