They have the album that Irvin recommends, as well as > another one thst is just self-titled from 2000. Tellingly, the recent two > are "rock", while the oldest one is "new insrumental". Heh. NEW INSTRUMENTAL. Interesting. Actually the self-titled album you are referring to isn't by the same band. The Icelandic band called MZM who released the album I wrote about (FINALLY WE ARE NO ONE) did NOT release the self titled album that is labelled "new instrumental." The band that I talked about in my previous email is the same band that released SUMMER MAKE GOOD though. Anyway just a warning. The self titled album by MUM (notice no accent over the U) is by a VIENNA based band (though I've also read that they were German, I don't know) is a totally different band. The icelandic band has released THREE full length original albums (and a few remix album/singles which I hear aren't as satisfying). The titles of the three albums (in chronological order) by the ICELANDIC band MZM are: YESTERDAY WAS DRAMATIC, TODAY IS OK FINALLY WE ARE NO ONE SUMMER MAKES GOOD. The other band has released a self title album and another album called SZABOTINK 15 MISSION and apparently they are more of a trippy dance electronic/blues/funk band. Or something like that. I've never heard their stuff. I'm only familiar with the ICELANDIC band. I keep getting drenched in liquid and I'm trying to climb up a vitreous surface but I slip back down. Apparently I have been on a Six Flag-esque ride through the bowels of Venus and I have been deposited where I belong. Now I'm casting a wary eye toward the skies, looking for a giant hand to swoop down and caress the giant chrome handle, relieving me of my misery. Thought I'd let people know about Kris's west coast tour, she's been one of my favorite artists for at least 5 years. She's a great performer, wonderful energy on stage. "Kris Delmhorst creates a hypnotically beautiful sonic tapestry." - Dirty Linen Magazine "Combining alluring, rootsy melodies with the intimacy of the urban songwriter, Delmhorst is a significant new folk-pop voice." - The Boston Globe "Where in the world did Kris Delmhorst come from? In just her second release, Delmhorst delivers an extremely stylized set of songs. She crisscrosses the spectrum, going from empathetic to sorrowful to bluegrassy to defiant to smoldering." - Kevin's Celtic & Folk Music Reviews :) Jess http://www.krisdelmhorst.com ============ KRIS DELMHORST SHOWS MAY 2004 Fri 5/7 (Opening for John Gorka) Homer, AK @ Alice's Champaign Palace 7:30 pm, 195 E Pioneer Ave, 907.235.7650 Sat 5/8 (Opening for John Gorka) Anchorage, AK @ Discovery Theatre 7:30 pm, 621 West 6th Avenue, 907.263.2900 Sun 5/9 Talkeetna, AK @ Fireweed Station (solo show) 8 pm, Mile 1.5 Sunshine Rd., 907.733.1457 http://www.fireweedstation.com Mon 5/10 Palmer, AK @ Vagabond Blues (solo show) 7:30 pm, Alaska Street, 907-745-2233 http://www.whistlingswan.net/index.htm Tue 5/11 Anchorage, AK @ Cafe Felix at Metro Music & Book (solo show) 7 pm, Benson Boulevard, 907-279-8622 http://www.whistlingswan.net/index.htm Wed 5/12 Seattle, WA @ Tractor Tavern 8 PM, 5213 ballard ave nw, 206.789.4250 carmina luna opens, http://tractortavern.citysearch.com/ Thu 5/13 Portland, OR @ Mississippi Pizza 9:30 pm, 3552 n. mississippi blvd. 503.288.3831 Fri 5/14 Altadena, CA @ Coffee Gallery Backstage 8 PM, 2029 n. lake, 626.398.7917, Randy Rivera opens http://www.coffeegallery.com/home.html Sat 5/15 San Diego, CA @ Normal Heights United Methodist Church 7:30 PM, 4650 mansfield st. 619.303.8176 presented by Acoustic Music San Diego http://www.AcousticMusicSanDiego.com Wed 5/19 Ben Lomond, CA @ Henfling's Tavern 8 PM, 9450 hwy 9, 831.423.8945 http://www.henflings.com Thu 5/20 Duncans Mills, CA @ Blue Heron Inn 8 PM, 25300 steelhead blvd, 707.865.9135 Fri 5/21 Berkeley, CA @ Freight & Salvage 8 PM, 1111 addison st, 510-548-1761 http://www.thefreight.org Sat 5/22 Redwood City, CA @ Little Fox Theatre 8 PM, 2209 broadway, 650.369.4119 Split bill with Emily Lord Band. Definitely for fans of Tori Amos/Sarah McLachlan. He is a classically trained pianist and has a gorgeous voice. Unfortunately he recorded his label debut w/ Patrick Leonard (the same guy who produced Jewel's "Spirit" record) so it's kind of overproduced... There is a song I'm in love with called "Cellophane" (although the demo version is far more haunting and gorgeous - but not available to purchase any longer). Anyway I'm sure that some of you will really dig his album. It took me awhile to get into it (other than "Cellophane" which I liked immediately - I'm a sucker for a huge, soaring chorus!), but now I can't stop listening Unfortunately he's on Sony and getting little to no support from them right now but I think a tour for summer is in the works. www.caseystratton.com jessica - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- jessica weiser :: www.jessicaweiser.com and check out our photography website www.xeptune.net ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 May 2004 21:56:55 +0000 From: jjhanson@att.net Subject: Re: Casey Stratton I'll second the recommendatdion--definitely an ectophilic male artist.
