Hi, Recently a colleague of Ron heard the compilation with Happy's music we have in the car (with mostly tracks from "Many worlds are born tonight") and he was interested to hear more. So I picked a couple of songs to play for him -- but then I wondered: which Happy songs would you choose to introduce somebody to her music? I tend to go for "Temporary and eternal" ("The keep" version), because that's just an impressive song that really shows her voice, or "Ra is a busy god" because that's just brilliant. Or "100 Years" or "Serenading genius" if I know that person's taste in music is a bit more adventurous already. Or I just stick to "RhodeSongs", because that's where I started myself, nearly 10 years ago (and still loving it). But I'm curious, which Happy songs would you choose? Also, just wondering: is there any news on the new Happy album? Didn't she say something like "November, unless I decide December, in which case January", sometime last year? It's been very quiet since then. And even though I can still listen to my old Happy albums as if they're brand new and still hear new things in it, it would be nice to have a new Happy album coming out. Best wishes, Marion n.p. But it usually depends on if I got a good hi-fi around or not. Tragic is also one of those songs I might pick. - -- Yngve ****************************************** * One alien has come, unalien to one ***** ****************************************** ***** Blessed be!!! ********************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 18:48:17 -0000 From: "neal copperman" Subject: Nancy Sinatra Between the house concerts and odds and ends other activities out here, I find myself on some pretty odd mailing lists. Today I just got a request (sent to a presumably large list of people in the region) to present Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. It's not going to happen, but check out Nancy Sinatra's band: Clem Burke, drums (Blondie), Gilbey Clarke, guitar (Guns & Roses), Lanny Cordolla, guitar (House Of Lords), Tom Lilly, bass(Mick Fleetwoods Zoo, Jefferson Starship), Don Randi, keys (The Wrecking Crew, Phil Spector's "house band"). Pretty odd mix of folks. I'd almost be tempted to see that show. neal ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 18:52:49 -0000 From: "neal copperman" Subject: Incus? Anyone out there seen a band called Incus? I figure some of the more Goth/Projekt folks might have run across them. They are from the Boston area. Sound samples at http://www.incus.net are actually pretty intriguing. Sounds like a cross between Dead Can Dance, Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy. If you don't know them already Anna Maria, they are definitely up your alley! They put together big festival extravaganzas with a 10-piece band, body painting, belly dancing and lots of fire stuff. Intriguingly, they also have a stripped down version called Echoes of Incus that is mostly keyboard based that sounds just as intriguing. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the sound samples. neal ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 18:16:44 -0500 From: "Matt Bittner" Subject: The Wailin Jennys It's actually The Wailin' Jennys, but some anti-spam software kill the message with special characters in the subject line. In any event, I recently found out their new CD - _40 Days_ - has been released and have just ordered it. I truly adore their first "EP" and can't wait to get the new one. Anyone on the list have it yet, and can provide comments? TIA!
