Lots of interesting looking stuff! http://www.cdbaby.com/sale" Yay for CD Baby! You have to purchase 3 to get the deal, but I think it's a GREAT idea and there are over 6,000 artists participating. My album is in there under "rock" and then "folk" if anyone is interested. It's "after silence" - full band record w/ percussion, violin, guitars, etc. Has been very well-received. :) thanks!!! =) jessica - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - jessica weiser :: www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 13:07:42 -0600 From: "Southpaw" Subject: Re: ecto-digest V10 #82 I was going to pickup a copy, but it looks like they are currently out of stock. :-( Wade - ----- Original Message ----- From: "jessica weiser" To: Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 6:40 AM Subject: Re: ecto-digest V10 #82 > "CD Baby has a $5 sale going on, on select CD. > > Lots of interesting looking stuff! > http://www.cdbaby.com/sale" > > Yay for CD Baby! Fornorn" Subject: Nori Bucci (speaking of CDBaby) Several months ago, I was trawling CDBaby looking for titles to pad an order, and I stumbled on Nori Bucci in the hidden corner of CDBaby's Progressive section. I've been meaning to post something here, never got around to it.. but since there's this sale on now perhaps others may find this worthwhile. Nori Bucci is apparently a young woman from the western New York State area (Buffalo?). She has two CDs available, Speak My Soul (2000) and Tales of a Dream (2003). This is a woman that, on principle alone, Happy Rhodes fans should embrace. She writes all the songs, plays all the instruments, records and produces the discs, does all her own artwork and layout. In fact, the CDs I purchased are actually CDRs, and the info appears to be done on an inkjet printer. That is NOT to say it is poor or low quality. It's all very well done. She has a very pretty voice, and writes decent enough lyrics. Her forte, though, is the guitar. She is hands down one of the most impressive guitarists I have heard in well over a decade. From complex classical influenced acoustic guitar riffs to soaring rock guitar solos, she plays em all and makes it sound easy. She has rocketed to the top of my list of people I would really really like to see play live. The music is progressive rock, that of course being a catch all for everything no one knows where else to put it. Fans of early Yes, Genesis, Tull and Marillion will probably take a liking to her music fairly quickly, as did I. The first album, Speak My Soul is a little more diverse in its influences, and overall slightly mellower, which is not to say it doesn't rock/funk in parts. Nori plays everything except bass. Tales of a Dream is a little bolder, and it's all Nori. Both album's tracks more or less alternate between vocal songs and instrumentals. I have difficulty picking which one I like better - they're both wonderful. And her artwork is gorgeous too... Look her up on CDBaby, or check out her own site at (what else) http://www.noribucci.com. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 19:55:48 -0800 From: "John Zimmer" Subject: Re: new lunascape anna maria raved: > there's a new lunascape album out. their last one was > a masterpiece so that should be good. ectronica with > touches of beauty and fierceness. > site:www.lunascape.net Thanks for the recommendation. I just downloaded and watched "Praise Me" -- if that's at all representative, I'm now a fan. Very nice stuff indeed. In a similar vein, I've been meaning to thank those on the list who kept recommending Edie; I picked up _Shades_ a few months back from CD Baby, and still enjoy the hell out of it. I'm very much looking forward to more from her. John ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #83 **************************
