It is released now, but what surprises me so much is how radically different the cover art is. While the UK cover is very artistic and stylized , the US cover is a nice, sweet picture of Carina. Personally, I prefer the UK cover but I wonder why the change....they visually send two totally different messages. Can't wait for it to arrive. I figured the change of cover was a marketing decision of some sort. Again, thanks for the tip on the new EP sherry - -----Original Message----- From: Jason Gordon [mailto:gordodo@optonline.net] Sent: Tuesday, March 16, 2004 8:19 AM To: London, Sherry; ecto-digest@smoe.org Subject: RE: carina round, u.s. release / lacuna ep The US cover is actually the cover from the into my blood cd single over in the UK...I recall Carina mentioning something in talking to her about the reason why they decided on the cover art change for the us but I cannot recall what it is... I had no idea if it was hanging or what. I tried it a few more times, only much later did I get the Sent confirmation screen. Little did I know that it was sending the email all too well, behind my back. Mitch ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 16:42:16 -0800 From: Ken Blake Subject: Bob Holroyd On a trip to Charlottesville, VA last week (for a job interview) I had dinner at a place called Rapture. I was really digging the music being played. Before I left I went to find out what it was. Turns out the bartender picks the music and she wrote on some paper "Within Without" by Bob Howard. After doing some searching I discovered it is actually Holroyd. The music has a lot of African rhythms, sometimes having a definite groove, sometimes incorporating some jazz sounds. It also has a cover of Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers" with what sound like Happy on backing vocals. I was told it was Kate Bush but turns out I was right after all. I was going to ask if anyone else had heard of him but first thought to search the archives. Not surprisingly, Vickie mentioned it almost a year ago saying she was "having awe attacks" listening to it (see http://groups.google.com/groups?q=holroyd&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8&selm=fa.g99gm1l.1ug4ci3%40ifi.uio.no&rnum=4 ). I have to agree. You can hear some mp3 samples at his web site http://www.soundscapemusic.co.uk Vickie, how has it held up? Whatever you say I'll still buy it. I plan to call around locally to see if I can get it right away otherwise I'll get it from www.sixdegreesrecords.com. Has anyone heard his other discs? I also am listening to samples of his older stuff and am intrigued by them as well. The job interview went really well so I may be moving to Charlottesville. If anyone would like to send me their comments about the place I'd be grateful.
