For example Tag Team who put out the song "Whoomp there it is," wouldn't have needed to clutter the earth with 12 others songs. There are several other groups which this could have been a big "benefit" to all people. :-) Wade - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Connell, Michael P" To: "'Valerie Richardson'" ; Sent: Monday, February 09, 2004 11:25 AM Subject: RE: MP3s -- The non-technical discussion > > About a month or two ago there was a feature article in the USA Today about > how many experts in the music industry are predicting that along with the > death of the CD format they are also predicting the nearby death of the > "album" as we know it due to the digital era. But it has attracted attention - and plenty of comment - over at Ars Technica. The Australian government's reference to the major shift on copyright - which effectively reverses legislation passed only last year by the Australian Parliament - is vague..." For five bucks! Oh yes, thanks for reminding me. I've been so bad when it comes to seeing live music, but this is just too good to pass - in Newtown! in the walking distance! Five bucks is a nice price, too :) There's really no excuse for me to miss this one! PS. I wonder what the Vanguard is like because I haven't even been there yet, can you believe it? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Feb 2004 00:08:23 -0500 From: "Bill Adler" Subject: Quiet, but not away I've been lurking lately, but my CD player hasn't been silent... I had the good fortune to hear Vienna Teng play at a local music place, Jammin Java, this past Sunday. She treated the audience to some songs from her soon-to-be-released CD, "Warm Strangers." It was great show: Vienna's music was as lovely and evocative as always; and she was so funny, too! Jammin Java (www.jamminjava.com), in Vienna, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC, is a wonderful place for music. For one thing, they serve really mean chili (both with meat and without). And for another, some of the best local and not-so-local musicians play there. I often go to hear Groovelily (www.groovelily.com), a superb pop-rock band, whose lead vocalist, Valerie Vigoda, plays the electric violin. Other musicians who frequent Jammin Java (do they come for the chili?) are Carrie Newcomer (www.carrienewcomer.com) and Susan Greenbaum (www.susangreenbaum.com). Well, I just wanted to say "hi" -- and thanks, also, for all the mentions and reviews of great music that I've been reading about on Ecto. - --Bill Adler n.p.
