These days she's typically a session player so pretty much any recorded work she does with her own name on it is a bit of a treasure. This release with Frisell was kind of a small, light affair but a good indicator of what is to come with the new album she hopes to release this year. http://www.songtone.com/artists/Frisell/frisell_petrahaden.html > Jesca Hoop: Not sure if she sells anything at her shows. She just launched her site not too long ago and the mp3s were put up just before Christmas, I believe. Her recent sudden success is due entirely to heavy airplay on KCRW and extremely well attended shows at the Cafe. So getting product together probably has been quite hurried, if at all. Anyway, I'd email Jesca through her website. I'm sure you're not the only one who wants something to buy. And I'll most likely be at one of her shows coming up (her dates aren't completely current) so I can check personally with her in case she's not quick to respond. Also, has anyone mentioned that Frente is reuniting for a couple of shows in the next few months? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Feb 2004 11:10:10 -0600 From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: The Rhodes Vol. II painting Whoooo! Whoooo! I got it! I don't know who was bidding against me, but if you're reading this, sorry about that. I had to have it. I just had to. I really really really had to have it. I was willing to go up to $500.00, but got it for $256. If I were rich I would have paid $10,000 for it (and bought the others too). Not that it's my favorite album or Happy monster (those would be Ecto and the Rhodes I monster, which is probably either painted over or rusting in some landfill somewhere since it was on a motorcycle gas tank), but I love the album dearly, and the painting is *important* even if, as Happy said in the listing, only for sentimental value. I haven't been in contact with Happy for several weeks, so I'm not sure why these paintings went on sale. I can only assume that the financial boost from the sale of these paintings will be welcome. Would anyone be interested in having a full-size print of this painting? I've looked into this a bit and though these rates aren't binding, it looks to be about $24.00 per print in materials. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to pay, say, $40.00 per print? EVERY SINGLE CENT after absolute costs (including shipping) would be given to Happy. I do NOT want to make money from this. People know me (newer people can ask people who've been around) and I'm not interested in making money off Happy. I just need my costs (for the prints, not the painting!) and the higher the quality, the higher the costs. The only reason I'd charge more than cost is to pass the extra money on to Happy. If you think you might be interested, let me know and I'll put your name on a list and contact you if I get enough interest to make this worthwhile. I'm pinching myself. I own the original Rhodes Vol. II painting! Pardon me while I go faint now. I haven't seen them in about 8 years, but they were amazing. The guys are all wild loud and crazed and the singer, Emma Hardelin, was cool and distant, hardly moving, though singing intensely. They were a wonderful live experience. - --Neile - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- neile@drizzle.com / neile@sff.net......http://www.sff.net/people/neile The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music ......... http://www.ectoguide.org Co-Administrator, Clarion West ............ http://www.clarionwest.org ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Feb 2004 22:45:42 +0100 (CET) From: Yngve Hauge Subject: Re: The Rhodes Vol. II painting On Fri, 6 Feb 2004, Xenu's Sister wrote: > I do NOT want to make money from this. The first time was at an all-too-brief CMJ show plagued by sound problems shortly after _Vengeance_ came out, that was still one of the best shows I saw that year despite everything. Then we had the opportunity to see Garmarna at Joe's Pub in NYC at some point within the last couple years ... time blends together so I can't remember the exact date. :} It was incredible. Very high energy, and even though Emma Hardelin isn't very animated onstage that doesn't matter at all, because the others are. I can't wait for them to come back to this area again. Are you asking because you have an opportunity to see them? If you can, *go*. You won't be disappointed. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V10 #37 **************************
