Subject: Sarah Mclachlan panned in Time Out Yes, I noticed the vehemence of this. Not having heard the album myself, I can't comment on its accuracy, but I was surprised at how dismissive it was, especially coming from a critic as normally ecto-friendly as Ross Fortune. Ross is, by the way, re-locating soon, moving to Austin, Texas where I'm sure he'll find plenty of artists to champion, and the London music scene will be all the poorer for it. adam k. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 2004 00:42:36 -0800 (PST) From: anna maria "stjärnell" Subject: janet frame hi.. author Janet Frame has just passed away. "Them", in this case refers to the band "Always August" Their release "Largeness with (w)holes" is good stuff that alternates between slightly funky rock and jazzier, semi progressive material. One more reason to pick up unknown stuff cheap if it looks interesting and/or comes from a label you trust (in this case SST). np: read the post, silly. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 2004 11:41:50 -0600 From: "Xenu's Sister" Subject: Chicagophiles reminder!!! I'm sure falling in love with Josephine Foster's voice. There is a song in MP3 format to sample at their label's website: http://www.mintyfresh.com/home.html The label's site also says that Ivy has a new album out, Guestroom. Does anybody have comments on this album? I like the three Ivy albums I have.
