Does anyone know why??) Her website (www.millaj.com) mentions a news tidbit about launching a clothing line in partnership with someone else; I would assume it has something to do with that. For a nice dose of recent Milla music (as well as a few other ecto- friendly artists), I recommend the _Underworld_ soundtrack CD. Most of it's forgettable filler, of course, but the tracks by Milla and Johnette Napolitano especially are as good as anything either has ever done. Also, the demo mp3's on her website are well worth a download. She is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter with guitar chops to spare, killer stage presence and a voice to match. Her songwriting is reminiscent of the best of Nanci Griffith and Susan Werner, and she is definitely one of those performers you'll look back on one day in wonderment that you got to see her in such a small venue. Also performing is vibraphonist Lalo (Laura Friedman), whom the Village Voice dubbed "The Vibe Queen", and said "if Lionel Hampton joined '80s King Crimson, he might've played vibraphone like Lalo." She was recently featured at the Hartford Jazz Festival, and has toured the country as part of the Women Rock The Road tour, to raise breast cancer awareness. Jazz isn't generally our thing, but trust us what Lalo does is beyond cool. She and Kellie go way back, so there will be some collaboration as well. This is going to be great! Last October, Lalo was profiled on NPR's Weekend Edition. You can listen to the interview (as well as samples of her music) here: http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=1461960 As usual the suggested donation is $10, and we'll have way too much food and drink. As an added extra, you're all invited to join us afterwards as we watch the Patriots crush the Panthers in the Super Bowl. (Non-Pats fans are also welcome. :) Please e-mail meth@smoe.org or call us at 203-776-9325 to make your reservation. We hope to see you here on the 1st!
