Hello to all, In doing a search today from some lyrics to Merrie Amsterburgh, I came across the Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music website. I must say I was very impressed with how many artist I have in common with you. So needless to say I have joined up! :-) I don't know if there is some formal introduction form or questions I am suppose to answer, but if there is hit me with it! If not feel free to hit me with any questions you have! I also would be happy to share some of my all time fav artists, CDs, or tops from 2003, if anyone is interested. Anyway, I just wanted to wave my hand in the air and say "I'm here" and Hi! I look forward to some good music discussion! Wade A. P.S. The Noe Venable sounds great! Where are you at? I saw her as an opening act once, and she was very good! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jan 2004 22:24:31 -0600 From: "Wade Alberty" Subject: While I'm at it.... Ok, I might as well let my newbie-ness shine while I can, without annoying people... That being said, I was wondering how many other members are in the MidWest area? Particularlly the St. Louis area? or even the Kanasas City or Chicago area? I am in the St. Louis are, and am also looking for people to meetup with at concerts and stuff like that! Which by the way for any STLers, there are SEVERAL good shows coming to Off Broadway here in the next month or so!!! It's best described in her words below. "The thing I think is special about these songs is that they are personal recordings straight from the four track....mixed only with guitar and effects...a kind of sonic solo presentation. These are songs that have never been produced or recorded elsewhere.....I think they are actually some of the best recorded music I've made. Laurie Freelove ...December 2003" I agree, I think it's the best music she's done so far. Anyway, to find out more , listen to mp3's or order, go to: http://www.hrmusic.com/discos/lfdisc.html Kind regards, Jack Sutton Harmony Ridge Music www.hrmusic.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jan 2004 22:27:58 -0800 From: "William Mazur" Subject: RE: While I'm at it.... Wade, Welcome to Ecto! I am sure that you will enjoy the stay. I have been on the list since 1998 and don't post much anymore. I am more of a lurker these days. The people here are great! I have been turned onto many new artists and have made a number of new friends during my stay here. Ecto first came together because of the efforts of lovers of the music of the incomparable Happy Rhodes. Check out these URLs to find out more about Happy: www.auntiesocialmusic.com/ www.smoe.org/ecto/about_happy.html The list has evolved into a discussion group of all types of music and artists. What is Ectophilic music is the eternal question. I will let others here answer that question. We also discuss movies and TV shows and all sorts of other things. Music is generally the main focus though. The discussions are almost always interesting and civil here. You very rarely find the bickering and rude behavior that is found in the Usenet newsgroups and other discussion groups. BTW, there are definitely a fair number of Midwest Ectophiles, including at least one of the founding members of the list. I will let them tell their own stories. I am from the SF Bay Area and there are a fair number of Happy fans and fellow Ectophiles out here as well. Oh, and I believe the appropriate question to answer is: What is your shoe size? (if I remember correctly that is the traditional newbie question to be answered). Please post your faves. I am sure I am not the only one who would like to see your list(s). Enough from me. I sure that others will chime in with a welcome. All the best! Bill M. n.p. Kevin Bartlett _Near Life Experience_ n.r.
