Overall, I felt that music was a bit disappointing and I barely had enough albums to form a top 10 with - even including a few titles from 2002. Hopefully, 2004 will be better! 1. The second you sleep - Saybia 2. IV - Seal 3. Afterglow - Sarah McLachlan 4. Up - Peter Gabriel 5. 200 km/h - T.a.t.u. 6. Some things - Lasgo 7. Different eyes - October Project 8. Bare - Annie Lennox 9. Disco 3 - Pet Shop Boys 10. American life - Madonna Kind regards, Marcel Rijs - marcel.rijs@kb.nl afd. First, it's going to take me a while to digest this much music. Second, rather than listening to each compilation straight through, I decided it might be more interesting to rip them into iTunes and sort the playlist by artist instead. (I figured that this might make it easier to identify artists that I particularly liked, but it also means that I don't really have much of a sense of the compilations as individual entities.) For now, at least, here's a list of the titles I picked up, sorted by label: A Different Drum: A Different Mix (5 discs) Mix Rinse And Spin (Volume 2) (2 discs) Shadow Dancing (2 discs) Shadow Dancing (2nd Movement) (3 discs) Space Age Electro Pop Synthpop Club Anthems Synthpop Club Anthems 2 Synthpop For A Darkened Room Ninth Wave Records: Electricity: An Electronic Pop Sampler Electricity 2: An Electronic Pop Sampler Ninthwave Records 2000-2002 WXJL Presents Music For The Masses Synthphony Records: DJ Ram Presents Synthphony 2001: Russian Strike Moonshine Records: Electro Nouveau (2 discs) Cohaagen Records: Evolution: The New Breed Of Electronic Pop Ministry Of Sound: This Is Tech-Pop: 21st Century Electro And New Wave One other thing to note is that the ADD releases in particular tend to divide tracks across their discs by style: for instance, the "Synthpop Club Anthems" discs tend to focus more on lighter, Erasure-style stuff, while the "Shadow Dancing" discs and "Synthpop For A Darkened Room" veer more into Depeche Mode-style territory. Eek! Japan's "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" (particularly "Taking Islands in Africa", the first David Sylvian/Ryuichi Sakamoto collaboration), has been stuck in my iPod for the last couple of days!
